Really helpful! Thank you for posting. I'd been wondering why bourbons I was tasting seemed to have a different flavor profile than what others might have reviewed, and realize there really is no "wrong answer". I often add a small ice cube to my bourbon, but will have to experiment to see what it 'taste' like if I added more water. Not that I'd want to do that all the time, but am now curious.

Objective yet subjective.

But, you are still watering down the whiskey which in turn changes the flavor. I personally like it as high a proof as possible, straight from the bottle into a glass at room temperature with out water or ice. Now you are tasting the whiskey.
