Art-Something hey man I have two questions, one actually pertaining to tattooing lol, so when you are switching between your needle sizes do you use a new needle every time, throwing out the one you just used, or do you have three different machines all set up with a specific needle that you can pick up when you need it? Ive never seen an artist switch needles so often before, at least on me personally, Question #2 is simply where did you get your shirt because it’s badass!
@ArtSomething4 жыл бұрын
@@venessaallaby-thompson8352 I use the same 3 needles throughout the entire lining of the tattoo. I used 3, 5 and 9 round liners. I did not open a new needle every time I switched. I just popped one cartridge out and another in as I needed them. I hope this helps man. I Honestly dont know where I got this shirt lol. Thanks for watching brother and stay safe!! 🤘🤘

Nice video brother! For what it's worth, when one of my apprentices want to practice on "fake skin" the one thing I tell them is to approach it like real skin. What I mean by this is USE your 3 point stretch as though it's real skin and always keep cross-contamination in mind. I see so many fake skin videos where they don't mimic these very important techniques and practices. I understand you don't have to stretch the fake stuff, but to instill good tattooing techniques and practices imo one should still act as though they are tattooing the real deal! This will hopefully not lend itself to picking up "bad" habits and carrying them over to real people. Btw, your line work is clean and crisp my friend:) Keep on keeping on!! Cheers

Hey , I`v been practicing on synthethic for a while now . Personally I use wet tissue to clean the skin , even after I am finished with my linework . I apply petrolium gel before I tattoo and after because it makes the cleaning process much better . For synthethic skin the best I`v used are the ones that are a bit thick , 3mm < because they are more dense and higher quality . They are more expensive but the hole experience it`s worth it . I love your videos man , very informative !

Do you have any tips on how to not wipe away your whole stencil after the first wipe?
@TraceursMonkey3 жыл бұрын
@@ilonahaanstra4360 First you start tattooing from bottom . Second thing you must let the stencil completley dry so when you whipe there is no chance that it comse off . A well dry stencil usually resistes even if you wash the area. If you tattoo on practice skin use the hair dryer to speed up the process . When whipeing simply and gently dab the are where you tattooed and not the hole design you your stencil dose not come off.

@@ArtSomething Really!?! I can't stand using cartridges at all. The amount of wrap I use to increase the sharpness of my lines and to keep my hand from cramping alone has kept me away from tattoo pens. I also like to fiddle around with machine setups depending on the driving force to speed ratio. Something I don't quite grasp about rotary setups. I get that adjusting the voltage can increase or decrease speed, but how do you control the driving pressure behind those needles? To me, each machine having it's own job and set up is like choosing the right paintbrush. The gauge being the grouping and the coils being the bristle density. (Kind of...) If the world could give me the freedom of wireless and let me stick to coils, maybe then I'd be able to say the same thing. I know it's a matter of preference, yet my OCD will keep me wired to anything I understand in full mathematical conception.

Hey man! I've been tattoing on fake skin for about a month now. I watched plenty of your videos and first of all thank you for everything! I must be one of millions, but im having a hard time getting my ink to penetrate the fake skin. The place where i buy my stuff told me to sponge out the excess ink with a dry towel ( which i tried) but it seems that it doesnt work, and there is still excess ink spreading out of my lines. I tried putting vaseline before/after the sponging, still not looking good. At first i was lining a too much big part of my tattoo before wiping out which caused the ink from the beginning of the lining To be dry already. Now ive just lost hope and i just wipe it ( not sponging anymore) after every single line. So i have to do the same line over and over for like 10 times to have a decent grey/black line. It seems so easy for everybody ( especially you) to do a clean line, sponge it, and go To the next line. I'm using a coil machine with 1013 RL and sometimes a 5 RL. Running my power supply at 7,8 to 8,4. Im not having the same issues with shading, oddly. A couple whip and it looks good. Is my fake skin clean enough? Do i put too much vaseline? Thank you if your read this! Keep up the good advices and videos!

To use a needle of a different color or when it is dry, you can clean it in sterile water (You can buy such water in a pharmacy or in stores with tattoo supplies) On real people, you only use new needles from sterile packaging, never the "previous". If you used a needle on fake skin, you can keep it but only to use it again on fake skin :)

Good morning. What needle sizes do you suggest that a beginner have and keep in stock?
@ArtSomething4 жыл бұрын
3,5,7,9, round liners 8,14 round shaders 7, 9,14,23 curved bugpin mags. These are a few of the needles that I use somewhat regularly. 👍👍

Can you use the same needles over again for only tattoo skin?
@ArtSomething4 жыл бұрын
You can if you want but the needles will start to become dull the more you use them so I get in the habit of using new needles every time I practice.

I just tattooed my first fake skin tonight and man it's harder than I thought doing lining it didn't come out great but i did start to understand setting the needle depth and to slow down but I will keep at it until i can look at the fake skin tattoo and be like i would tattoo that on me plus my daughter had fun drawing stars on the fake skin with the machine

What do you use for wiping the additional ink? I use a mirror cleaner and it doesnt work that well ofc only on fake skin
@ArtSomething4 жыл бұрын
I use A&D or Vaseline. You rub that into the ink then wipe it off, Works great!!

is it better to push or pull? or is it just preference?

Bro. I’ve been tattooing fake skin for a few months now and I continually come back to your videos. I’ve officially given one tattoo and the client (my friend) was super happy. I’m super grateful for your videos as they’ve helped me learn so much from needle sizes to workflow. Keep up the videos man!

Im guessing that is a rotary machine. What is a good brand to buy? I have 2 old school guns but looking to get a rotary as they are quieter and i like the quick change needle cartridges. Any info you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
@ArtSomething3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I just put out a video called everything you need to tattoo in 2021. In that video I talk about what machine I would go with and what not. If you look that up it should help you out. And thanks for watching always appreciate the support. 🤘

When switching between needles are you using new ones each time ?? Really passionate about learning and I hope this question isn’t too dumb of a question >.
@ArtSomething3 жыл бұрын
when working on a client I change needles often, but i am not getting a new needle every time I change needles. I rinse the needles in between color, or between different needles. Once the tattoo is over I dispose of all the needles used during that session. I hope this makes sense and thanks for watching! 🤘🤘

What did you first use as templates as your beginner tattoos on fake skin? Or did you go straight for the transfer printer?

AWESOME video.. I just bought my FIRST tattoo kit and im super stoaked to try this practice skin now... Ive been drawing all my life and have always been suggested to tattoo... Obviously i was scared and intimidated.. This video just gave me the confidence to go draw something up and try it on the practice skin! Thanks dude!

I have a cnc also with battery pack. Do you run that at a higher voltage because i dont like the way it was lining on skin but didn't want to turn up to high
@ArtSomething4 жыл бұрын
For the most part I run the CNC around 8 volts or so for lining and for shading.

to remove the stencil. put the synthetic skin in a recipient. put paper towels (essuie-tout) on it soaked in bleach and let it work for several hours. It works really well
@ArtSomething4 жыл бұрын
Oh wow ok that sounds awesome. That is the second time ive heard of using bleach. SO with that said I will be using your techniques. THank you brother I appreciate your help and your support!! Keep ROcking!!! 🤘🤘

Could use some help please. Around 12:16 you mention purple stencil ink on the fake skin and how it's different from real skin. I've watched several other of your vids and one I remember says to leave the stencil on 15 to 30 mins. Is my purple stencil going to make my tattoo ink look purple when I begin tattooing on real skin? I didn't understand. I don't personally have an issue with purple staying on my fake skins, but I really want my tattoo work to be on point. What's up with real skin and stencils? Maybe you have a video on this that would answer my questions, could you point me in the right direction please? Thank you very much for your time and I have been learning so much already from your videos. Excellent work and thanks for keeping the language clean and you do your vids!!

hi there. may I ask you a question about stencil, how do you keep the stencil stick on the fake skin so good, I tried on my fake skin work, and the stencil easy to fade. it is really hard to flow on the line or details. Any tip from you to keep the stencil stick hard on the fake skin. and thank you so much!!!!!!
@ArtSomething4 жыл бұрын
I use to let them set overnight to dry before I tattoo the fake skin. Or another thing you can do that others told me about was to use a heat gun or blow drier to help it dry faster. Hope this helps and keep rocking!! 👍👍
@allie44574 жыл бұрын
I use a blow drier and alternate between the cold and hot setting for 5-6 mins (sometimes less if I’m lazy) and then let it sit for about 5 mins and it’s usually good to go from there :) on silicone and rubber fake skins!

Thank you for another great video.can you draw something with a pencil then tattoo over the top on fake skin
@bluewolf86113 жыл бұрын
How do you get the needle to stop getting stuck in the fake skin? Because when I try to do a curve it gets stuck and sometimes just making a small line
