I have always been told that they can’t talk. I even researched and made a whole book about budgies so I could get some. Dad ended up letting me getting one. My research said that they could talk, but everyone kept telling me they couldn’t. I’m still trying to teach my bird Lapis how to talk, and I think they are starting to learn. This really helped! You give great tips to help us with our birds. Thank you so much! Now I know that you can definitely make them talk! And a few questions: Is screen time bad for budgies? Are just seeds bad for them and will they have a longer lifespan if u give them fruit? Thanks for the help! ❤️

Really? A Budgie requires specific things when training to talk. 1. 15 minute one on one sessions twice a day with absolutely no distractions. 2. Speak a word s l o w l y and articulately and somewhat loud. Stick two one word at a time and repeat. I start all my training with ...up! while using a stick to get you're Budgie to climb up on it...gently. once he steps up on his own, use you're finger. So ...budgies chatter fast ...this is why you speak slowly while training. Budgies chatter at low volume ... This is why you speak with a louder volume while training. Budgies can be distracted... this is why you train with no distractions, visual, and audio. A nice quiet room and no distractions. Best speaking budgies have no other birds living with them ... At least for their first 2 to 3 years. If you use these techniques you're Budgie will have the potential to speak over 5000 words and will construct his own sentences comprehending meaning. A male is preferable 5 to 8 weeks old.their cere/nose color isn't developed at this age (male blue/female beige) so if you want a baby boy then pick him up in you're hand gently and if the bird bites a lot and hard, choose another till you have one that doesn't bite. I love Budgerigar's and have raised, trained and bred them for years. They are the #1 talker in the world followed by the African Grey. Cheers!

I don't have a budgie but I think they are precious and smart. I have an 11 year old Cockatiel and I love her and she does say a few words. She has laid eggs and she is DNA sexed, so I know she's not a male.
