It amazes me that a teaching method that was used to help children in low income areas, with learning disabilities, has become a teaching method only the rich can afford. Don't forget Geography, and Science. Both are very important.

That's exactly what I thought- the materials are expensive to purchase. I read that many of the first materials were cardboard. The glass beads were used because there was a glass factory next door and she got them cheap.

Yes I second what you said Here in India parents travel great distances, car pool and are obsessed etc to put their children in Montessori schools they say we are not pressuring our children and let them be contradicting as they are constantly comparing their children with non Montessori ones

I am an Ami teacher there are many more things you can do at home for practical life. Polishing shoes, washing the table polishing metal objects, grinding coffee beans, dusting, sweeping, folding, braiding, cutting, flowers and all of the frames like buttoning, zipping now tying. You can also make sandpaper letters and numbers by hand with sandpaper and a couple layers of stiff construction paper. Vowels are blue consonants are red. I hope this helps.

I came across Montessori school reading a comment from a PrinceEa video here on KZbin and I have to say this kind of reminds me the way I was taught as child. Traditional schooling has changed so much since I was a child and I am scared for today's youth. I am going to start doing more research for my 16 month old son. I do some things now but this video gave me a boost to look more in to the Montessori way. Great video mom!

I’m just learning about Montessori. I have two boys ages 3 and 4. I feel like if I had those beans projects out for my kids, there would be beans and sand all over my house and probably in their eyes and hair as well. Also, they would probably play beauty salon with those scissors too. I’m so overwhelmed.... these Montessori kids must be extremely well behaved. Maybe my boys aren’t cut out for this kind of stuff. 😞

Thank you for making this video! There are two Montessori schools in our town average out at $980 a month not counting extra fees. It’s just unobtainable for the average family. But we refuse to settle for public/ government schooling. This gives us an alternative method to give give her the Montessori method without breaking the bank in the process!

I have been working in childcare for about 12 years and what you said in the beginning about how much it cost and how you have to figure out that you ARE capable of providing your children with quality care and Early Education is a beautiful thing that I have decided every parent needs to understand. Just beautiful.

Great Ideas! With the sand and beans, you could paint the beans gold and say, “they are digging for gold!” (my son likes to do this outside in the dirt so that’s why that came to mind) The our of order numbers in the egg dish is brilliant.

I am a montessori teacher, and yes is awesome what you did but it take a lot of the development of the child in order to give the appropriate lessons. Yes! Practical life It is one of the main areas and the sensorial area to prepare the child for the harder areas, such as language and math. But t every area has a purpose!we as teachers we have to observe and see and how we have to work with every child because we work an every child’s phase. An example if the child’s visual discrimination is not developed , means no recognition of numbers or sounds. We have to work and focus on Sensorial which it does has a lot of the material that works by the senses, example.. pink tower has a set of pink cubes , which is larges to smallest! His visual discrimination is going to work by seeing a large cube and a small cube. The child will learn that the letters are not the same , numbers are not the same ! They are different! And learning math as well by counting! Colors Etcc . Until the child’s visual discrimination has developed than the child’s is ready to move to a different area. And successfully move on! Eye !! Very important that the child has to manipulate everything on concrete material in order to understand sooner. 😀👍🏻

There are some things you can only learn in a group. In a Montessori School the group is community and they learn respect, social skills, manners, how to be part of a group, who they are without their families, how to be a friend, how to wait a turn, share take care of one another, raise your hand , wait in line, deal with other people some of which are difficult, and everything within the context of a beautiful classroom set up for the childrens needs and with direction of a trained teacher. If you home school how will they learn these important lessons also ?

All of these things can be taught and learned more effectively in a homeschool environment. I had to undo the bad social skills my oldest learned in school and she is now much more skilled at all these areas you mention. My youngest never attended school and has no issue with these areas either. We are totally brainwashed into thinking the only place kids can learn this is at school. It isn't true.

This video is about preschoolers... there are free library storytimes, sing-alongs, playgroups, playgrounds, and other events that give kids time to be in a group setting without costing $600 a month. And for older homeschooled kids, as long as there is a community of homeschoolers in your area, it is easy to set up co-ops where parents take turns providing content and materials. This way, the work is shared, and kids get to be together - not just with kids who happened to be born the same year, but with a variety of ages, helping them learn to behave appropriately with all ages, including a wider assortment of adults than kids in school typically get to work with.

I am just starting to look into the Montessori method, and unfortunately the preschool is too pricy to aford, so I am looking into making my own at home. My question would be how do you avoid having huge mess, sand and beans etc out? At what age can I give such tools to her? (She is 15 months old at the time)
@montessoriwithmary8648
@montessoriwithmary8648 7 жыл бұрын
Hello there! I am a Montessori Teacher in Southern Oregon. 15 months is a great age to introduce the Montessori Method. It is very surprising, but when the environment is very neat and they are trained properly and consistently, young children have a very keen sense of order! As long as you provide a small quantity of the beans or rice and show her how to use the materials before hand, she should be successful. I would do the activity in an area that would be easy to clean and I would use that as a great opportunity to provide a lesson on cleaning messes!
@nerdydragon7534

Whenever I set out an activity with messy little bits (rice, colored pasta, etc.) I also set out a little whisk broom and dust pan and give a reminder to sweep up spills and pour it back into the container... also a larger tray for messy activities can help contain the chaos!

before it became fashion to call it "montesori"- it was called : upbringing.... that's just taking care and teaching kids, done for generations before Marii Montesori was born. Nothing new in this method appart from a few very harmful new marxist alterations ... Plz, find out more. How much of montesori success is due to the money the parents pay for it? The only true thing here is : better care better results, and thats because ALL WE KNOW WE LEARN FROM OTHER PEOPLE, when we are born we all know exactly the same- which is nothing at all, and it's up to us - the WORK we do for the kids, the time we spend with them and the quality of this time- that's what matters.
