How to teach your Pit bull the RELEASE Command!

In this video, I go over How to teach your Pitbull the Release Command. Training the release and out command can seem hard at first but the key is to stop the fun while playing tug and hold still until the dog releases the tug toy. I then start adding the out command by voice and reward the first time they perform the action I want. Teaching the release command can be somewhat easy, it's just going to take time and patience when training your dog.

Once upon a time someone was playing with a pit bull and his friend was standing behind the dog. The bully was having so much fun, its tail was going a million miles an hour! The second guy said to the first, "whoa dude, this little guy's dangerous". Someone else overheard them and that's where the stigma came from.

Hey man just wanted to thank you for all the knowledge that you share on your channel. I rescued a beautiful, 3 year old Pit about 6 weeks back. I’ve had dogs my whole life, but this is my first experience with a Pit. She has been through hell and has scars to prove it, but she seems so grateful to be in a loving home now. She was tied to a tree to starve to death and she almost did. Someone found her just in the brink of time. She was covered in insect bites and was down to a measly 23 lbs. Her name was “73”. The whole thing is sad, but she’s so happy now and is such a sweetheart. She is so good with my 2 boys and pretty much everyone else also. It really bothers me that Pits sometimes get a bad rap & it’s awesome that your channel helps to fight that. I can only speak from my experience, but the Pit that I rescued was severely abused by people her whole life and, in my mind, she should absolutely hate everyone & I wouldn’t blame her. That’s not the case though, she was saved, put into a loving home, and is such a sweetheart. I’ve found so many of your videos beneficial for me to learn and understand more about the breed. Sorry for the long rant. I appreciate what you do - thanks again bro!

Love how you make it simple and effective. My bully is 6 months old and having trouble with her call back without treats. I relise its early but we camp alot and dont always want to do treats. I do have her on a long leash when on campsites but when (on occasions) she slips off it's hard getting her to come back. In fact shes mischievous with it and runs away. X

Yea this didn’t really work for mine. She thinks it’s go time even when I take the fun out. The way I’ve somewhat got her to release is by saying out and pulling the toy to the ground and holding it to the ground so she can’t really play with it and then she finally lets go.

My dog is still young, so he tends to grab higher and higher when I don’t respond, until he gets my hand in one way or another. I stand still, ignore, and don’t pay any attention, try to keep the toy unappealing. Got any idea how to resolve a tougher case?

@@topbullies8536 He’s already aced leave it, at least inside. He’s just trying to tug with his leash and he’s also terrible with the food my neighbors leave around (they’re probably going to get kicked out) I just need some help with the food stuff. He is getting better with drop it, but only inside. When we go out, it’s like all training never happened, and we are constantly reinstating sit. The nice thing is that he’s finally sitting, laying, and staying pretty good. Only breaks of it when there are new people around, and we’ve been getting him to reset, as you did with your stay video.

That doesn’t work for my dog lol. He just lays down with it in his mouth so he is still pulling on it. When I don’t pull back then he will just flip his body and have keep playing lol. Guess I need be stronger than my dog so he can’t pull it down.
