Teching stage spikes is so difficult because most of the time you won't expect to be spiked against the stage and even if you do expect it, you could always just air dodge and then die if they don't hit you or spike you
@noakinn5 жыл бұрын
Just press shield 12 frames befire hitting a wall, a ceiling, or floor. DI allows you to slow launch speed (hold down, or wiggle in down). High lauch. speeds are untechable. A harder tech now (post 3.0) is jokers pseudo wave dash, using a gun stall and airdodging into the ground.

@Dharsi5 жыл бұрын
That's not actually how it works. The real mechanic is that if you are in the middle of an airdodge towards a surface, you will tech it. So in order to "auto-tech", you need to buffer an airdodge whil in hitstun, then get out of hitstun, and have the time to start your airdodge by the time you hit the wall.

My biggest issue and fear is that even at low percents, i'll feel the need to try and tech to prevent getting stage spiked, when in reality I didn't need to and it ends up with me air dodging then falling slowly to my death...I just don't understand how you're supposed to expect within a split second to tech when it's an untelegraphed attack that hits you to bounce you off the side of the stage, yet I've seen pros tech nearly every time when it doesn't seem expected. Didn't know about holding down to when getting sent away to reduce the distance some time.
@engineeringamerica54325 жыл бұрын
Wall jump techs (holding away from a wall to automatically perform a wall jump after the tech) do not use up your jump. They count as a wall jump and one can just jump back to the stage afterwards if they've held onto their jump up to this point.
@engineeringamerica54325 жыл бұрын
Keeping tap jump on makes it exceedingly more difficult to hold onto your jump in this situation, however, as it often makes you use your jump right after the tech anyway by holding upwards. Proper wall jumps are performed by tapping the direction away from the wall, not upwards.

Let’s all just consider the following: Short Hopping has a window of 3 Frames. Teching has a window of 11 frames. I think it’s funny that, technically, your reflexes have to be approximately 4 times quicker than what is required to instantaneously recover from barreling into a surface at high speed in order to *jump a short distance off the ground*
@MrTravisAl Жыл бұрын
I think that’s because the jumps in ultimate are so extra. It’s hard to [be quicker than] the rise of them. But I agree. I CANNOT get it down. (Pun intended, I guess.)
