katy k, I’m still in high school, taking some college classes too. People don’t call me stupid outright but they definitely underestimate my cognitive abilities. I probably get away with more because I’m a teenager so people expect weirdness. I actually volunteer/work as a math tutor for little kids. Their parents usually love me because I make math lessons fun for the kids. People that don’t know me definitely tend not to trust that information I might be sharing is true or factual. I actually have a depressive disorder as well, so yeah depression can happen to us ENFPs. Despite having been suicidal and severely depressed in my middle school years others tend not to believe me. Think I’m attention seeking. Unless I tell them the meds I’m on LOL. I’m open about my mental illnesses because it might help people and then it’s harder for others to use it against me. It sometimes freaks them out because right now I come across as free spirited, fun & loving my life. Like how could I have been that low. I have decided to enjoy my ride around the Sun on this ball of mud. With that info it kinda makes them love me or hate me. My haters tend to loathe me because nothing they say or do to me affects me very much. I’m lucky that so far I get to have a lot of say in how my life goes. I’m babbling and ADHD kicking in big time. I forget what else you wrote & KZbin makes it tough to look again.

INTJ here and finally experienced the mind meld! Sexy, popular ENFP found me interesting and while all her friends thought I was weird, she didn’t care and was pretty forward with her interest and attraction toward me. I agree being able to read a room and understanding people just comes too naturally for ENFPs in order to hold our interest. However, for me personally I love reading books about philosophy, political science, economics, etc. And I love being able to mix and match these different perspectives together to try and find different points of views and understandings and seeing how well they mesh together.

I also don't relate to the "flaky" enfp trait. Friendship, for example, is a priority to me and it is super important that I follow through if I make plans with a friend, no matter how the situation changed. Otherwise, I am not a good friend. If I am disorganized, only the rest of my priorities will suffer. The plan with a friend is unchangeable. It is actually one of my top principles. I am, in that regard, sometimes a bit disappointed when the people around me don't do the same for me. But then I remember that everybody cares in different ways and that anyway it's not about giving and receiving the exact same amount. I am flaky to myself though 😄 if that makes sense.

Apparently many ENFPs, particularly female are thought of as always flirting with others. This is what I now refer to as our Ne curiosity that can easily focus on almost anyone. I hadn't thought of it before but people have said it can be captivating. As such it can also be misunderstood or feel intrusive. I have seen women become uncomfortable with my curiosity when there is no romantic interest in them at all. I refer to it as "the flinch" now. A sudden change in body language or energy that indicates discomfort. Another example (and I believe this person and I are becoming friends, whatever that is). Several months ago I bought a 12 pack of pens. I asked to use their scissors to open the package. Then I said "Hey would you like one ? ... hesitation .... hmmm.... I said "Just take one", I was both puzzled and a bit annoyed. People seem ridiculously hesitant with my sense of openness and sharing. What people do not get, there are no strings attached with an ENFP, all we wanted was to share something with you. I have seen younger ENFPs to be somewhat capricious in their socializing. I tried to become friends with two younger ENFPs in the last few years. They both failed to connect with me though both suggested a very strong interest in wanting to connect. I suspect I did it as well when I was younger. Endless human possibilities to explore, but remember those human possibilities may feel back more strongly than you might realize. I cried when one of the younger ENFPs forgot about me. They do not mean to do it , it still hurts.

Especially the interest in close connections and getting to know people (but with me compared to an enfp I would like to meet slightly fewer but learn about them more in depth and for longer) except I'm awful at staying in contact. I mean our regular level of emotional output is overwhelming for many people,, it gets very intense when it is romantic in nature. Girl, I relate a LOT to this, especially the time aspect. I am *very* particular about how I spend my time, and I am often reluctant to make plans because I like to have an open schedule to do spontaneous stuff. It's one thing if it's something I want to do, but I don't like committing myself to things unless I'm seriously interested. That being said, if I like you, I *WILL* absolutely make the time for you. I think this is why it hurts when a crush says "sorry, I'm busy," because in our minds we know people will make time for things they like. To an ENFP, saying "I'm busy" is just another way of saying "I'm not interested in you."

YES! ! ! From the time I was like 13 I've had this problem...for me it's different genders, different races, different ages... different everything. If there's something about you as a person that sparks my interest, I'm going to try to learn more. It's like placing catnip in front of a cat and telling it not to touch it. i love this video. and as an enfp, i feel SO called out. i speak exactly like that! we tend to do that, i think, to pause in the middle of a sentence and interrupt ourselves because we're just creating what we're saying as we say it. i find it pretty cool tbh, i think that's why other types think enfps are so captivating! nice work!! :))
