I did learn a lot! My doc recently put me on taurine and MSM, but our appointment ran so long she couldn't get into the details. I'm feeling better!

Thank you for the valuable information! I was wondering about the l Carnitin - it is a Sulfur containing amino acid, so could it not make symptoms with CBS?
@drlamСағат бұрын
Great question! While L-carnitine does contain sulfur, its effect varies. If you suspect CBS mutation sensitivities, monitor your response closely or consult with a knowledgeable practitioner.

Is it contraindicated to take taurine as a supplement if you have a homozygous CBS mutation?
@drlam4 ай бұрын
Taurine might not be ideal for a homozygous CBS mutation, as it could increase sulfur levels. Monitoring your sulfur intake is key.

@@drlam Thank you for answering my question. I'll try to overcome this by taking molybdenum as I've felt better since taking Taurine 2G daily.

I have ehlers-danlos and would you be able to tell me if that is due to the mutation on my CBS Gene or the mthfr gene.
@drlam5 ай бұрын
EDS is mainly linked to genes affecting collagen, not typically CBS or MTHFR mutations. However you could still have both types of genes affected separately

wow! so it increases ammonia? I have cbs a360a mutation. Maybe thats why i feel better on lactulose
@drlam11 ай бұрын
Possibly. Give us a call at 626-571-1234 so we can talk more about it.

Trying to buy NOS and CBS can you spell out the complete name of these supplements please
@drlam9 ай бұрын
NOS stands for Nitric Oxide Synthase, and CBS refers to Cystathionine Beta-Synthase. They aren't usually in supplement form.

I have read a medical article in the past which mentions that glycine powder mops up ammonia. Would this be correct? Thank you for a super informative tutorial 😊
@drlam4 ай бұрын
Yes, glycine helps reduce ammonia by supporting the urea cycle. Thanks for your feedback!

What would happen if I have a mutation on my CBS Gene and a mutation on my mthfr.
@drlam5 ай бұрын
Mutations in CBS and MTHFR can affect nutrient processing and homocysteine levels, impacting overall health. Adjusting diet and lifestyle can help manage these effects.

Is it possible to take glutathione orally? There are already formulas which are not digested.
@drlam6 ай бұрын
Yes, oral glutathione is available, and certain formulations, like liposomal glutathione, can enhance absorption and effectiveness. Always consult with a healthcare provider to determine the best option for your needs.
@verena67086 ай бұрын
@@drlam my question is, does it have the same effect as the body's own glutathione? In order for it to work, it has to get into the mitochondria (at least with SOD2 enzyme)

How do we test to see if our ammonia levels are to high?
