I've had my EGR disabled when getting my remap (2015 Golf 7 GTD), passed TÜV and AU (German emissions) without issues. Plus fuel consumption as well as engine response time improved. Even though these newer VW engines use 'pre-cleaned' (two filter DPF system) I'd still disable that every time

As an owner of several VW TDi cars, the EGR valve is a ticking time bomb, as they coke up with frightening regularity - some as early as 70,000 km, needing replacements which are quite costly.

I can attest to that. Someone told me that getting rid of the thing was the best thing they have done to their car, but I couldn't comment since it probably counts as a modification on insurance forms. 😉

I have a BMW 1 series 2.0 disel 118D M sport and a couple months after buying I notice my fuel economy has got really bad and the engine sounds loader when idling I did change the bresther pipe and checked no diesel leaking but I when I out fuel in my car I measure how many miles I'm getting and I keep losing 100 miles worth of diesel I don't know if that's normal for a bmw or maybe I have a faulty sensor or maybe its the EGR? 🤔🤔

I have a suzuki alto 1.1 2004 and got quoted £900 for a new EGR and labour. This was 3 months ago and I’ve still been driving it every day since. i only paid £700 for it just before lockdown. It was misfiring quite bad when I was using e10 fuel, so I switched to e5 and seems to run better, and just likes to have a little splutter when idling.

Can be egr problem if can lose power on low rpms? After i hit 2000 rpms its pull normal, but before its very slow. Giving black smoke. I have replaced so far maf sensor, fuel filter, turbo salenoid its still run same. Two mechanics have looked they dont know what it is. Computer was complaining about air problems. Car not shaking or anythinks starts normal, but black soth comimg out from exaust.

I think my egr is leaking coolant. I’ve had a pressure test on my vrs but there are not signs of coolant but it’s needing to be filled once a week. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

@@adamedwards4832 Could be a leaking head gasket. Remove spark plugs one at a time...inspect sparkplug tip...if you find one that is spotlessly clean (no carbon)...it's a blown head gasket issue. Coolant seeping into a cylinder cleans out carbon...

Hello do you need always get new egr gaskets if you replace the egr valve unit? Im thinking of getting a used one but the gaskets wont be new i think. Suzuki wagon r 2002

I have a vauxhall mokka 1.7tdi 2015 .. yes it's me I got one😂 I sometimes get smoke coming from the exhaust pipe but after a few miles goes off mostly just the first mile or so eny advice please

Hi i just got a astra 61 plate 1.7 cdti its hard starting when it started idle is ruff black smoke out of the exhaust i looked in engine and the egr vaulve connector is snapped off so no wires is going to it its down on power do u think thats y the car is like it is on tick over its chuging to

Yes. I am advised it's a good idea as they are a common problem on VW TDI's.

I got the egr error code and my car is shaking like crazy when its idle but i took put the egr valve amd cleaned it (it already looked pretty clean) but that didn't help. Any suggestions. I have a 2010 belta/yaris.

I have deleted my EGR from the ECU bacuse it was casing problem, but it stil causing EPC and check engine light, only when driving and sometimes it stalls at idle. Could you please help me ?

Hi buddy, which engine do you have? Did you do a physical delete/block/removal as well or just a software delete? Just something to note here, unplugging the EGR from the ECU often causes errors and many "mechanics" think this is the way to delete an EGR but it often causes more problems than it solves. Are you getting any other error codes? Please note that although I can make suggestions here I really cannot solve problems remotely or offer solid solutions, every car is different and there are often little quirks that need to be assessed each time.

VAGCOM via a laptop is the nerd version and is well supported. OBDeleven also works really well and is the one I've used - quite cheap and versatile really.

Well i thought i had a bad egr because my car idles like shit but it's only when the car is cold as this guy just said bad egr idle is when the cars warm, any ideas anyone ?
