“All you need is a screwdriver and a spanner” Video proceeds to show grips, pipe wrenches and blank caps 🤦🏻♂️.

Before lifting off, put some rolled up tissue in the valve stems. This helps to prevent you having to clear up the black water which will come out. Once off, turn the bleed screw of and turn rad upside down. The other way of doing it is to lift rad off quickly, put thumbs over the stems, then take outside and empty. That's the quickest way as long as you have two people who know what they are doing

"Turn off both valves" - shouldn't that be a clockwise motion? This video appears to show an anticlockwise movement.

Thanks for information about radiator Thanks again 👍🏻

Whatever you do, don’t rely on the thermostatic valve closing completely when it’s cold, like what I did. Fortunately I was going to replace the carpet and underlay anyway :-)

Can I still turn the heating on once I've removed the radiators and capped them off?
@Tazza173 жыл бұрын
No, you need at least one radiator on for flow, otherwise you will damage the pump.

You don't need to remove the rad, just slacken the nuts, then lift the rad of the brackets and hindge it down on the floor, when you have finished painting/ hanging your wallpaper just tilt it back on to the brackets, tighten the nuts and there you go, no need to remove
@AllenHart9995 жыл бұрын
I would not advise to do it that way, its very easy just to remove the rad. I have been out on call outs to leaking pipes when customers try it your way.

I know this is from 4 months ago, but if only part of a radiator is getting hot, it usually means there's air in the system. Try bleeding the radiator until water comes through.
@theowickenden81745 ай бұрын
Yea.. also refill the system from the loop bellow your boiler.

Right- first of all the video shows a muppet OPENING a rad valve not closing it... secondly they don't show any notes of how many turns the valves take to close so the system could well be out of balance now and lastly no jointing compound being used so them unions may well leak....😏

Better still, get hold of a set of Radclamps and Radwrench to get the rad off, no need to drain.
