Hello, how do you strengthen weak neck muscles?

Hi! thanks so much for the comment -- it truly depends on what skill a baby is working on, but 90% of neck strength occurs and builds during tummy time, rolling, and sidelying play with the rest occuring during transitions and back play/sitting. It all starts from tummy time, though. If you are looking for specific exercises based on a child's current/next milestone, I would recommend going through my new free online courses (tummy time/rolling, sitting, crawling, walking): drlaurenbaker.com/courses they each have a neck strength and neck mobility section as well as tie everything together so you can learn all about the milestone your baby is in and the next one they are moving toward.

My bubba is 10month not sitting standing or walking and rolls from tummy to back but it looks like it's by accident and when he rolls from back to tummy he focuses really hard. It's not a smooth movement. No in a position to bring him to any physical therapy. But I really want to be proactive.

Hi! Thank you so much for your comment. If baby is ten months and not yet fully mastering rolling or sitting by themselves, pediatric physical therapy would be the gold standard and my recommendation would be to follow up with your childs pediatrician as well. If youre in a country where physical therapy is not available, then please still reach out to your pediatrician. The next thing I would recommend is taking the learning to roll and learning to sit courses linked here which are free: drlaurenbaker.com/courses At ten months we want to master rolling and sitting before we can move onto crawling and walking. It will be pretty difficult to do this on your own since there is so much your baby is working on, but hopefully the courses will help you find a place to start and there are links for online parent consultations in the course for additional support if needed.

Yes I saw a pediatrician yesterday....they said they think it's thyroid issue so we are waiting for blood test results. Thanks for the advice 💖
