Excellent Video sir! I have an 89 merc 150 blk Max xr4 MOTOR . Would a bad rectifier cause the tachometer not to work? I`ve replaced the old one with a new one and it still doesn`t work.

all the diode test fine but the contact for the negative wire is burnout, do you have some recommendation. Thanks.

What does a pegged voltmeter gauge in your boat possibly indicate? Is that an indicator of a bad voltage regulator?

Verify what the voltage is to determine is the voltage is actual that high that the Gauge cannot read it or if the Gauge is bad.

When I turn ignition switch ,the solenoid clicks on/off rapidly - tested across coil [4-5volts]could it be a faulty regualtor causing these problems, thx

Hey man... What if we tested the output voltage of the rectifier when the engine is running ?? Can we check weather if is working or not like that ?

yes, just check 12 volt on battery before you crank it, then measure again while it running, the higher the rpm the higher the volts will go maybe up to 14 volts, if climbs rectifier is working @@michaelmolinari4358

You gave a 30 minute explanation of the principle, then grabbed wires and put the meter on them with ALMOST NO EXPLANATION OF WHERE THEY GO AND NO CLOSE UPS.. FAIL
