To be clear, if specification is within 1% (as you stated), you are indeed out of spec. You have a reading of 31.11megOhm (31.11 millions ohms) 1% of that would be .3111. Therefore you spec would be 30.8m - 31.42megohms. Your reading on the second sensor was 31.58 which is outside of your specification.

Just so everyone knows, he is not plugged into the car's electrical system wiring harness he is plugged into the other end of the speed sensor one and is connected at the wheel hub that has the actual sensor and the other end that he's plugged into is the end that would normally connect to the cars wiring harness oh, there are so many comments of everyone claiming he's plugged into that cars computer and the cars wiring harness and I tried to respond to all the comments that said that to let them know that they are wrong and to help them understand what's going on, so I hope this helps everyone understand what's going on here, the wheel speed sensor has two ends at one end is the sensor that's plugged into the Hub and the other end is what he is plugged into and that is the end that you would Connect into the cars wiring harness, I hope this helps I've try to make it as clear as possible

@@danielrivera5858 clearly I see that people come to these videos not knowing what to do or what they're doing so they're looking at it as an educational purpose that's where I'm coming from because he clearly doesn't describe that, you can't assume everybody knows what they're doing because they don't, clearly your brain isn't turned on enough to figure that out, I'm just trying to help people understand what's going on unlike you who's just out to instigate trouble and problems

Yeah is there a polarity difference or doesn't it matter it whichever way you hook it up I'm an Africa with this car and a mechanic cut the stupid wires and then he destroyed it out of the hub I had to order new wheel sensors so now I have no plug because he cut it and he threw the plug away Now I'm just wiring it connected together does polarity make a difference blue wire yellow wire whatever it is

So i have my meter set at ohms with an alarm beep. Not touching them together starts it at 1. When i try to check the sensor nothing happens, it stays at 1. Is that bad. It seems like it should register something.

My son has a 2014 nuke and the right rear speed sensor is not picking up so he replaced the wheel bearing and speed sensor and still no signal so he which the thing drives side to the passenger side and still nothing. Took sensor off and replaced it and still nothing. He took to dealer and they said ABS actuator was bad 2000$ later Still no signal coming from right rear speed sensor. The gear on the cv shaft looks good but the plate ring that the sensor mounts to look rusty so I'm going to clean it up but how can I test the leads and what to look for testing something from the computer to the wheel to track the problems down maybe a bad wire somewhere

My daughter has a 2019 Toyota Corolla. All the dash lights are on and the speedometer doesn't work. The only code it's reading is speed sensor. How do I know which one? And is the wheel sensor the same as a speed sensor?
@HVAC_Mechanic2 ай бұрын
It likely is the transmission speed sensor. Research the code and it will give more information.
@ProbabilityPiglet-if6fy7 күн бұрын
Hey thanks but I have a problem of sorts. I tested the right rear side on the JK Jeep Wrangler because my code reader is coming up with C1035. The cable is showing OL so I tested the left rear side and it shows the same thing! Does this mean that both sides are bad? I"m not sure what's going on. I switched the multi metre to voltage and both readings were around 11.35 volts. Do you have any idea what could be happening? Surely both sides are not bad, right?
@HVAC_Mechanic7 күн бұрын
There are different types of speed sensors, so this test doesn't work every time. I should have explained this better. If this test does not work using a scan tool to test them may be a better option.
@ProbabilityPiglet-if6fy6 күн бұрын
@@HVAC_Mechanic Thanks for the reply. I did use the scan tool (I just called it a code reader) but really appreciate you getting back to me. Cheers

Yes, that is a common symptom.

Good video. But, what is the next test if the ABS light is on, and the speed sensor passed THIS test.

Are you getting speed sensor codes? If so, examine the wiring and check for any other codes.

@@HVAC_Mechanic I have the ABS light on, as well as VSC OFF light, I have C0205 code = LH front sensor, and 4 more codes. I bought a new ABS sensor line, installed it, and drove my car, and all the ABS lights went off. I then ran another OBD2 scan, and suddenly the ABS light went back on, as well as the VSC OFF light and TRACTION lights. The C0205 code is back, and the others (U0123, C1223, U0124, U0126 and U0073).

@@HVAC_Mechanic So, my ABS light went on, with codes C0205 (front LH circuit) and C1236 (foriegn matter on tip), and C1223 (ABS malfunction). I cleaned off the new sensor (there was a small dusting of metal on it) and the AS lights went off for about 1 week, Then they came back on today for about 2 minutes while driving, and got those 3 codes again. The ABS lights went off, but the codes are still there. What else can I do besides cleaning any possibly foreign matte off the ABS Sensor again?

There is a speed sensor on the transmission that sends information to the speedometer.

Testing the sensor this way uses continuity, so the key does not need to be on.

Yes, they should show the same values. Also, if you have a scan tool, look for an option to test the wheel speed sensor when driving.

@@bobert8125 no he is plugged into the other end of the speed sensor, the end that he is testing is what plugs into the car's electrical harness, so he is not plugged into the car's electrical system, he is literally just testing the speed sensor, the end that he is plugged into clips into a female connector that is wired into the entire cars wiring harness and electrical system, so basically he just disconnected the speed sensor from the car's electrical system and then plugged leads into the end of the speed sensor that would connect to the car if it was plugged in

He said exactly what to do. Look up what the normal ohm reading for that vehicle's speed sensors are. If you cant find it, most that ive worked on have one speed sensor per wheel. Test all 4 of them while youre at it.

No he is plugged into the other end of the speed sensor, he unplugged the sensor from the car's electrical system wire harness and then connected his multimeter to the end of the speed sensor that would normally plug into the female port of the cars wiring harness, so he is just testing the speed sensor, so one end of the speed sensor is the sensor itself connected to the wheel hub and the other end of that sensor is what he is plugged into, he is not plugged into the car's wiring harness, she has his leads connected to the end that would be plugged into the car's wiring harness

You shouldn’t be working on your car without some type of scanner. You can buy them now for 20 bucks and up.
@fillupread8 ай бұрын
Nope. The PCM and ABS module looks Hz from an AC current, not resistance. ABS sensors are nothing more than a magnetic pickup that creates a hall effect. Probe the terminals, put your meter on AC volts and spin the wheel.
@HVAC_Mechanic8 ай бұрын
A resistance test is a common way to test wheel speed sensors. You can also jack up the wheel, spin the tire, and check AC voltage.

I have a Zafira B with ABS light and traction control lights on all the time. Today did an Ohms test on all 4 sensors using the lead coming out of the hubs. To test the feed wire to the hubs I switched on ignition and set multi meter to read volts and got = to battery voltage on all the feed leads. Now I expect next test will be check feed from ABS module to ECU as I expect it is the ECU that is sending an error resulting in the above dash lights being on. Correct me if I am wrong.@@HVAC_Mechanic
