Thankyou for posting the video. I have the same lights come on intermittently, one mechanic changed a rear sensor a couple of years ago, and after watching this it might have been a mistake to have replaced it. I will be letting my current mechanic know to pull them all out and clean them all for me.

The mechanic may not have to remove them to clean them, its one of those things you can do yourself it there is room to get in there and shove s stiff brush in and hose it off. If you are going to get the mechanic to look at it you might want to ask him to actually test the resistance of the sensors at the plug to see if they are on spec and do it before and after cleaning them so there is some visible result to see in the resistance value changing, which is basically what I did just to be certain cleaning them was doing something and not just hope that helped..

thanks for video a big help . looks in my case the problem is due to corrosion of the teeth on the exciter wheel decided to change cv joint but exciter wheel is seperatly available thanks again mate

Hi mate. Thank you very much for your excelent video. I have a Holden Vectra 2.2L year 2000. The odometer doesn't work and the light of ABS and TC are turn on. I thought that my car had the same problem like your video. I checked, thing, cleaned all the sensors and these work very well. I bought a scanner OBDII but this model doesn't have the same protocolo of comunication. Do you know what can be another problem for this failure? and Do you know which scanner can work for this car model? Again thank you soo much for your help

Will try to clean it up too...my zafira a having the same problem...abs and tcs light up and is it because of that the speedometer is not working too?...the light sometimes gone but later will on again....if the the 2 lights gone speedometer work but if on it doesn't work....tqvm for the video will definitely try that out

Just an update @ may 2017, so far no recurrence of the ABS light after the cleaning so I think we can call that "fixed"

I've had the same problem I just did the same and found alot of metal shaving on my sensors to cleaned it worked for a bit off but unfortunately the lights came back on next time I started it.

Hello, thanks plenty for the very explanatory video. How do I find the ABS control module and corresponding end-points to test the respective wheels on a 2003 Vectra C? Are they the same on every car of that model and make or is there a website to find out? Thanks again. Great Video!

The Vectra C has a wheel sensors inside the wheel hub but basically likewise has a wire plug and connector coming off the wheel hub you can locate and test. But start at the controller modular plug up at the brake line ABS distribution block near the coil tower under the bonnet. From there test all values to find which wheel sensors needs further testing.

Thanks. Very hard to find a mechanic in Broken Hill, Aus. (one that's not booked out, LOL). I'm going to attempt this myself after work today. I have some ordinary tools, Jack and a multimeter. My car is showing ESP (electronic stability program/ traction control) constantly lit and ABS just flashes. It's Okay after a cold start, but when the ESP light comes on during a long drive, never goes away, until the battery light comes on and car goes into "limp mode". ESP is causing a battery drain. Battery & Alternator were checked to be Okay. Do you still think it could be the ABS sensors? I think so. Thanks again, your help is invaluable.

I doubt very much that a wheel sensors alone would cause a limp mode, the ECMs wont use in input value that is out of range, hence the ABS light so that would not trigger a flow on of the fault through the logic to the degree its stopping charging and going into limp mode. With so many fault conditions occurring you do need to use a scanner for this one to sort out if there is something going on in the PCM or Body control ECM. They are very cheap to buy a scanner these days. Just bought one that cost me about $50 shipped, PC to OBD and you can read and clear codes with it as well as live values. But it allows connection to any module in the OBD not just the Engine system. With some fault codes you might get some indication or you could run it live logging when the fault occurs and play it back to see any values like voltages as the faulty occurs.. Ive done some video on OBD scanning for non mechanics, need to edit it to upload it..

First thing is to see if it has any fault codes stored and see what they are. Next is to test the ohm values of the wheel sensors like I have in the video to see if they are correct, if you don't know the values you can at least make sure both sides of the car at the front wheel sensors are about the same. Keeping in mind that the ABS wheel sensors are also used to sense wheel spin for Traction control. Also if in doubt you could simply unplug the wheel sensors and try that, the ABS light will probably come on but at least it will tell you if the wheel sensors are causing the traction control to stay on.

Hiya, Did the speedo go off as well ???? Mine has. It all seems to work for a while when i first drive it, then the abs , tc light comes on and the speedo goes off. My mechanic seems to be at a loss. Any help would be gratefully received . Thankyou in advance . Vauxhall Vectra 2.5 sri. w registration .

It may be a wheel sensors, some like mine dont have the speedo sensors in the wheel with ABS sensor, the type that has speedo and ABS sensor is deeper in the wheel hub than the type shown here. Either way you do need to test the values coming from each wheel sensor with multi meter. Manufacturer provides a max in min value it needs to be within. You may find that a sensor is close to being out of specified range but not quite and doesn't show a fault light, a bit of heat in it changes the resistance and puts it out of the factory range and it shows a fault (heat in any electrics increases resistance) . So if you test all the wheel senor values and find they are all within spec but one is not the same and close to out of spec the maker provides then it might be the cause of an intermittent fault light and speedo sensing failure, Cleaning it may help get it back to the right range if its possible to get to it easily like my ones otherwise it will need replacement. But test the harness and connectors as well. The reason I test the wheel sensor values both at the ABS ECM end of the harness and the sensor end is to isolate any wiring fault that might be the cause. Being this causes a speedo sensor problem it is more likely to be one of the front wheels, speedo doesn't come off ALL the ABS wheel sensors and most likely from one of the wheels so test them first.

No the speedo in this vehicle did not come from the front wheel ABS sensor. I can tell you the speedo remained working when the ABS was not getting the sensor input. - If ABS wheel sensor in your vehicle was not working then you would also get an ABS system warning lamp because the wheel sensor isn't working - If the speedo is not working but you do not have an ABS warning lamp and ABS is working then all the wheel sensors are working, That tells you that the wheel sensors are working therefor the speedo fault is not the ABS wheel sensors.

I have an Astra mk4 sri 2lt and traction control light comes on and stays on when driving done a fault code test and got back c0244 engine torque input no signal, any ideas? Thanks

Had a google on this and there seems to be quite a few possibilities. I would suggest as I did to get the factory DVM testing data and then set about testing the values given on the sensors involved and at least isolating any faults there.

2004 probably has OBDII so you could get codes to locate the problem and then get the specs for that component to test it like I have in the video.
