Hey, I’m getting the 5F3A code. I have replaced the actuator and that didn’t change anything. I used my laptop to do the relearn, still no change. I noticed that the wiring harness did touch the exhaust but didn’t burn the wires themselves, not visibly. Also when I’m drive slow and my car shifts to 2nd gear I would hear a loud grinding noise after the gear engages. Sometimes the car would jerk like it’s trying to shift back and forward then it’ll go in gear and make the same grinding sounds. As soon as I give it gas the noise stops and when I let off or barely give it gas again it starts back. The car has no problems shifting any other time other than that which mostly only happens when I’m barely giving it gas and driving really slow. The transfer case oil has been changed as well. No visible leaks or damage on it. Also I have had my car up on jack stands and the front wheels would rotate for a second then stop. Idk if that helps but just another thing I noticed. I don’t know if the car sensed that it had no traction and tried to engage 4x4 or what but my tires did spin for a second after putting it in gear. I have not messed with the module at all but that’s my next step to check if nobody can point me in the right direction or tell me what to check and how.

I had the abs,brake,and 4x4 light on the dash. I replaced actuator and tore apart old actuator and found plastic gear stripped. Well two weeks later the lights are back and they come on every time I drive it. When I first replaced it I was getting a clunk noise when taking off fast, but no clunky when taking off slow. Front end sounded like something was worn. Now that lights are back on I hear no clunking sound. What do you think is going on
@ADPTraining Жыл бұрын
1- need to relearn new gear or transfer. 2- might have damaged front end due to torn gear.

Hello, I have a 2005 bmw X5 with the 4x4 light on the dash. I changed the gear on the actuator but the the light is still there. I noticed the vehicle cannot be driven for long as it goes into limp mode. I have to shut it off and then restart

@@ADPTraining well I forgot to mention these codes 5EB3 DSC: Steering-angle-sensor-adjustment and 5F42 DSC: Transmission control, limp-home operation showed up on my scanner. Now i reset my SAS and now the 4x4 light is off, but the only problem now is that the car would drive changing gears for like 3 minutes and then suddenly drag and don't change gears until i shut it off for like a 1minute and restart it and drive. I changed the plastic gear on the actuator and test it by applying ground to pin 8 and power to pin 1 and it spins okay, i really don't know what else to do!
@romeoholder44532 жыл бұрын
@@ADPTraining I would also like to add that i checked the wiring connections for the actuator with a test light, I am getting ground but when i test for power there is nothing even with ignition switched on. Is there any diagram showing what voltage suppose to go to each pin and also the resistor wiring?

Hi, please if u can help me in my x5 2004. From a while The trifecta lights with dsc inactive came on, so i went to a mechanic that showed in his scanner the gearbox so i changed the gear with the actuator and new oil but it’s used and it’s spare parts from an x5 in japan. Anyway after changing it sometimes the dsc only comes on but when you turn on the car again it goes off. So i scanned the car and it gave the steering angle (code: 04 and 08 slider fault, adjustment operation) with the transfer case(code: 54C8 classification registor). So he told me u should change the steering angle, is that true because here in ur case did u change the steering???

You go with what you have, these CODES or DTCs. Concentrate on that, not what someone else did. Good luck.

Don't want to buy a new transfer case without a strong diagnosis

Raise vehicle, start and put in gear. Then manually actuate transfer gear somehow. See if noise persists and if so you may need a Xfer case.

Hello changed the actuator and resistor myself on my x3 and it feels much better and lights gone but feels like its dragging sometimes i have the code “54C4 First calibration defective” Reset it with basic scanner and the code comes back do i need a special scanner is my transfer case bad? Thanks...
@ADPTraining4 жыл бұрын
Yes, calibration has nothing to do with the resistor. The resistor is a coarse calibration if you will. Then, you need something like a manufacturer capable scanner. The AUTEL Maxisys comes to mind. Keep me posted. autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com
