That’s a neat trick right there removing your core depressor from the gauge to see if pressure increased.

Now if we can just get all HVAC Techs to test this after they hook up their gauges. Tech I had years ago hooked up his gauges on a bad cap call, 3 months later we had a leak. They wanted $$ to check for leaks using "probably in the coil" talk/hard to find/ expensive fixes just wanted to sell me a $15k new system.. Years later after using a window unit I find this channel, checked it out and sure enough that is what it was. Thanks to Anti DIY for saving me $15k :-)

Great video. I just could not figure out why every HVAC guys/gals alway put stuff on top of compressor even if if on/off. Things could fall inside.😊

good idea on the gauge! As far as the shredder replacement, you still need to purge the air out before you open the valve to set it.

Just bought appions this year had the yellow jackets before and the nut would pop off and you would lose the charge or vacuum these work great so far

I have one I check every year. The core was leaking. I replaced three cores- still leaked. Put a seal cap on it and moved on. Been like that for 18 years. No problem. What makes me nervous is when starting to remove a cap on the high side and it starts hissing loudly!! You really hope someone didn't leave the core out!

I usually screw in my valve core tools and push in the plunger. If plunger extends I know I got a leak.

Nice, looks 100% reliable. Any chance the Shrader cap has a pad (as would be used on a refrigerant bottle; would depress the core) instead of an O-ring?
@throttlebottle5906 Жыл бұрын
you have to watch out for that! many of the caps have a flat rubber gasket, that will distort in the center and press the core open. most now have a gasket with hole in the center, but I have seen many bent core stems that would still get depressed by said caps.(needs replaced anyway/sloppy work bent them).

Looks like the bad core was missing the middle o-ring, thus causing the leak.
