Well, I have two separate vortex dots, both venom.. one of them looks like starburst, the other one looks pretty sharp. I don't think you can pin that one up on astigmatism..

An even easier way to check is to flip up the rear back up sight. Look through it and see if the red dot looks crisper. If the dot looks crisper and the blurriness is gone then congrats you have an astigmatism. No worries though, the etched reticle on the Vortex 3x spitfire is an awesome improvement. I love my 3x spitfire!!

or if you have a rear site just pop up that rear site (so long as its a pin hole, and level with the red dot) and effectively conduct a pinhole test on yourself to account for cylindrical refractive errors in your vision , it'll be quicker then focusing your cell phone and you'll likely end up with a superior image of the dot , and it'll be about 100x faster.

Looks like a starburst to me, but tbh, I found the further away it is, the better it becomes! So looks like I will just throw it as far forward as I can LOL!

Something that I just came here to clarify that I did not see any of the videos when I watched when I was very concerned about this and getting into red dots. If you wear corrective lenses, this one will not be an issue for you. Assuming your prescription is correct. This is specifically for people who have an astigmatism that is mild enough they do not wear glasses.

Looks like I'm gonna go buy an AR-15 with red dot, just to check if I have astigmatism.

I have astigmatism and run a Sparc AR. It does appear as a starburst to me. Would the "huey" provide a clearer reticle/aiming point?
@VortexOpticsUSA6 жыл бұрын
It will likely provide a bit better looking image. Keep in mind, though, one thing people run into with Holographic sights is they assume it will be an extremely crisp looking reticle, but there is always some inherent pixelation with holographic sight reticles and it isn't necessarily caused by your astigmatism. Absolutely not bad enough to affect usability - hence the reason holographic sights have been widely used since the 90's for their speed and accuracy, but it's important to know what to expect. Just worth noting if you decide to make the switch. Hope this helps! - Erik B ebarber@vortexoptics.com

I have astigmatism. But i don't wear glasses. Does glasses correct your astigmatism?
@VortexOpticsUSA4 жыл бұрын
They most certainly can help and in some cases, do totally correct it! Depends on the person and the prescription.

Great video, need to title it different though. Maybe... "Does Your RDS Look Like Crap?" I remember when I bought my first red dot (Belorussian PK-A) I thought I got a lemon and was back and forth with these Belorussians in emails PISSED, trying to figure out why I paid so much $$$ for a shit scope. Ended up I just have shit eyesight...
