Awesome video Sir you missed your calling as teacher you explained the elctromagnetic field theory very well. Better than most books I read when I was studying Industrial Electronics at a technical school. By the way Sir using your advice I just purchased a 1976 Johnson 4hp 2stroke outboard for $100. Which I am going to be bringing back to life using many of your videos as guides thank you.

That was good in all my years no one not even small engine repair has ever mentioned such a creature. though I should have figured as we used to beef up our HO and slot cars by manipulating the strength of the magnets for each need. Thanks Great videos.

I have a old 62 sportswin 10hp it been running strong, last time I was on the water coming back in it die,got it home check it out im getting spark from one plug Don't know exactly where to start checking, the flywheel is off Don't know if it the coil,flywheel magnet,points and condenser Any help would be greatly appreciated

Mike on my Johnson 4hp J4RETB I think I understand that after removing fkywheel I have to time it or index when it's reinstalled. Do you have video on that or a somewhere I can get that information?

No need to retime unless you moved the points setting - flywheel fits into woodruff key to ensure proper position.

Hi mike can’t set the points on my 1975 evinrude out board because of sloppy magnito plate. Any ideas. I can’t find new plate and plastic ring below. Thanks enjoy you video. Don’t want to get rid of motor because apart from this problem it’s in great shape.thanks dave

a magnetic field in itself does not create current but a variabel magnetic field create a current. And in an outboard it is variabel because the flywheel goes around. When it is in rest, no current in the windings.

question for you 16 hrs fly wheel magnets came off and person re gluded them back on but didnt put in right order now hole fly wheel is magnetized and kills battery in 10 mins.

@@michaeljsimon no I don’t have one unfortunately but the middle magnet and one to it’s side seem strong but the third one is weak and won’t hold a screw driver but I’m thinking that’s normal, so it has no points, cleaned all surfaces, new coil and plug and I can barely see the spark it jumps around a lot and is white not blue doesn’t look good? @@michaeljsimon it's a Honda Harmony II HRT 216 SDA 1998 year model doubt they'll have that information now sadly. This 25 year old mower is awesome, Honda's the elite! I've replaced the carburetor & preparing to replace the ignition coil & noticed on the flywheel the magnet wasn't noticeably seen, but after watching your video it did tell me that the magnet is embedded behind the outer surface of the flywheel unseen, I'm just going to go ahead and assume that the magnets functioning fine and replace the ignition coil 🥇

I think you are mistaking "magnetic field strength" with "electromotive force". Magnetic field is always there so long the material is magnetized whether it be a natural magnet or artificial magnetic field. For EMF to occur there most be electromechanical movement, for example, the magnetized flywheel rotating near a coil. Sticking a nut or screwdriver on to a magnet on itself does not constitute EMF,

Matt T-Mike has a lot of knowledge to pass my suggestion is if your not keen on it look elsewhere. There’s zero point in this criticism and some people enjoy his methods! Regardless of you electrical engineering spaceship knowledge. There is another video he’s done using guass meter keep watching 😉
