What if you have an intermittent signal wire problem…can you just run a signal wire and connect it to the ecm to the crankshaft connector ?

My Mt2400 only puts out 3.7v. I understand it doesn't matter for this test, but why would my MT2400 output differently than yours? Any idea?

ahmed dokman unplug your sensor. Take your meter set it on diode mode. Take black lead and connect it to a good ground and take red lead and touch signal wire and watch your scan tool for response. 👍

You need to show exactly how you connected the ohmeter, you had t&e camera too close and could not see anything how was connected , you explained it well but couldn't figure out how was connected the ohmeter to signal

Hi i tried this with both my dvom' s ..Put one on continuity and the other on volts DC and connected the leads to each other and my reading was .280v on the auto ranging setting .Was expecting i higher voltage than this .Does the auto ranging affect the decimal point position ? Thanks

martinguitarhd28 something is pulling your voltage down. What is reading on your ohm meter should be OL.

Hi just to clarify that i am doing this correctly as i could not see how you connected your leads to the vantage and other dvom in the video .I have 2 dvom's .I set one meter to ohms setting and the other meter to volts DC .I put my red and black leads into one dvom and same again in the other dvom and join them together(one set of leads has alligator ends on) and then look at the voltage reading ? Always used the 5kohm resistor like Scanner Danner uses to do the signal circuit integrity test but like your idea as well.

Just like to add i am just connecting both meters together to find how much voltage my dvom puts out to see if it's 5v,2.80 or 3.5 v etc

hi i have a 2009 ford fiesta 1.6 tdci,i was driving it last week with no problems,then out of the blue a cog light came on which i have been told is the pcm light,the car died and wouldnt start for around 5 mins,eventually got it running and got it home,a friend plugged it in and a p0698 code came up,he said it was throttle pedal,so replaced that also put a new fuel filter after a day or 2 same thing happend,it wouldnt start so i put a forscan on it turned the pcm light off and it started,after 2 hours cut out again so i unplugged egr and it run fine for 2 days then the light came on again even with the egr unplugged,it has no problem starting but once that pcm light comes on the car will not start until i plug forscan into it and clear the p0698 code,is there anyone out there who can help it says sensor reference voltage c circuit low additional fault symptom circuit voltage below threshold......thanks in advance,jon

but if the sig can handle a short to ground why do we worry about meters and test lights?the amerpage draw from a short is emensly more and yet that doesnt destroy the pcm?

I am not sure if I understand you question. Signal voltage can’t handle short to ground. It will be pulled down to 0 volts.

If your signal wire greater then 5v from (+) to input and (-) to battery ground, would you include that the pcm is done?

Unplug sensor and take test light connected it to ground and touch signal wire. If your test light lights up your signal wire is short to power
