I'm a mechanic and if this is my car and I'm tracking oil pressure over time, I'd leave the reducer in the block and just install a 1/8" pipe plug in there. One less step for your next OP check.

I had the relief valve in my oil pump fail on my 2015 Ranger 900 XP. The retaining clip that holds the valve piston and spring in place failed and the valve piston got jammed in cock-eyed so i couldn't relieve pressure. This caused the oil pressure to be so high that it was blowing out the oil filter seal and sprayed oil all over. I purchased a new pump from Polaris and installed it. I drove half way around my yard and the oil filter seal blew out again. I took my machine into the dealership to have the oil pressure tested to confirm the pressure was high. They performed a leak down test and oil pressure test. They found the oil pressure was high and sent off a note to Polaris to as what should be checked or done to fix this. Polaris reply was to "replace the motor"...Seeing though i had just spent $6000 having them send out the engine to have it fully rebuilt less than 1000km prior, i almost choked with their reply and am completely disgusted with their lack of support in figuring this out. I was charged 2 hours labor to do the tests, which i found way out to lunch as well. The oil pump that i pulled out had a completely different relief valve than the new one that i purchased from my dealer. I feel like i was sold a crappy oil pump... i pulled the engine again and removed the pump and found there is a cartridge relief valve in this pump instead of the retaining clip, valve piston, and spring like in the last pump. The relief cartridge in the new pump actually moved when i pressed on it and it made a clicking sound like when you try to seat something back in place. Going back in tomorrow to discuss things with the dealer tomorrow... Do i seem off track in what i am thinking?? What are your thoughts. Thank You! I appreciate all your videos, they are fantastic!!

I would definitely talk to the dealership about that. Going rounds with problems like that is never fun! Hope you get the issue figured out!

Why can’t you add a oil pressure gauge like a vehicle and run it to the cab where it can be monitored?
