Nevermind "degrading" over time - the best time to test capacity is when they're brand new because all companies lie. Even Anker, who consistently has the highest percent of stated capacity results, is usually no more than 80 to 90% of advertised capacity. EDIT: You really didn't do that great explaining how to measure the capacity of a power bank. You mention it almost in passing, and don't say if there's any way to do it without constantly monitoring it. Calibration wasn't really clear either.

Wait so am I suppose to charge power bank to full capacity then plug device and completely drain it with recording or something because in case if battery got 0 device would switch off besides draining power bank will take a lot of time maybe you could make a short video concerning this topic?

Btw, testing the 'speed' of cables is a bit more involved. You mean measure resistance but the speed really refers to the rise time rather than the speed of propagation of the signal itself (this is near speed of light). Rise time speed may result from bandwidth of a cable. Less resistance is almost always preferred but that make a bigger and thicker calbe.

​@@BeatTheBushDIYHi! Is there a way to test a cable if it's faulty? In my case, I need to test usb -c cables for cameras if data drops out? The resistance in ohms is not that different from a known faulty cable and a reliable cable. Maybe .392 vs .327.

@@montezuma7971 Maybe you have an intermittent problem. Try moving the cable around to see if the resistance changes. It might fault form impedance problems but I think that type of fault is rare and you cant test that type of fault with this thing.

I came across your video while doing research. I have a question for you. I want to test the 20 Volt/12 Amps 240W SUPERVOOC charging adapter and find out its actual values. I want to measure directly at the adapter output and I want to measure from the cable output after plugging the cable into the adapter. The adapter has a TYPE-C output, 240 Watts gives the value as 20 Volt/12 Amps. I have researched a lot of products, there are products that see 240 Watts and can reach much higher Volt levels than 20 Volts, such as ChargerLAB Power-Z KM003C - Power-Z C240 or PLUGABLE USB C Power Meter Tester 240W, but these testers are not in the Ampere range of the SUPERVOOC adapter (I need 20 Volts/12 Amps, but I could find a maximum of 6 Amps in the meters I researched), so I think a healthy measurement cannot be made. What can I do about this, how can I reach the correct measurement, is there a device you can recommend?

You can use an AC meter like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpbYXqqJa6tomdk And use the 6 Amp usb c meter to get an idea of the efficiency. Then you can draw at 12 amps and extrapolate. Current meters do not expect 12 amps since that is 2024 tech so you have to do some manual measurements. You could also use a usb c break out board like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJesgH5ue61ml7c And either stick a 20A DMM in between or put a low ohm current sense resistor and measure the voltage. Or put a battery watt meter in between.

The cam doesn't used 5W all day long. It might be 1W, you size the battery bank according to how many days you want it to run.

So I did an over test and was recharging one powerbank using another at 8.86 volts and 1.2 amps and it says my (30,000 mah powerbank) capacity is 11,000 something mah. How do I convert the volts and amps to see the true mah numbers of the powerbank at the company’s 3.7volts or whatver cause I’ve seen results as high as 24,900 with this bank but I’m getting 11,000 with 9v so yeah I’m searching how to convert the numbers and math

Powerbank ratings are given for the 3.7 average voltage cell. So a 30,000 mA*h PB has 111,000 mW*h energy available. You will only ever get about 90% of that at the output due to conversion losses, so let's say 100,000 mW*h total energy output. Now divide that by your output voltage, 8.86V. The end result is 11,300 mA*h. The math is Power(output) = efficiency*Power(cells)... where power = current * voltage for each side of the equation.

That sounds very very off. USB output are usually in the 5V range. This product only measures, it doesn't change the voltage.

I just received a similar meter and it does not power on when I plug in usb-c in. The usb-a ports worked fine. I have an iPhone 13 so wanted to test all my charger blocks I had with android that charged much faster than on my iPhone but so far can’t test my usb-c blocks.

I'm new to electronics and saw another video showing this gadget. I've been buying Li-ion batteries and noticed so many sellers claiming from 800 mAh to around 6800 mAh from a 18650 battery. I'm looking for a way to test to see if their claims are accurate.Would this tester be able to measure amperage in any battery once I modify the USB input?

Amperage yes as that is current in that instance of time. The 800mAh and 6800mAh is a measurement of energy which is current over a period of time. To do so, you may need a dummy load or just let it run until it runs out of battery with this connected. edit: Depends if you are measuring a battery cell or a battery bank which regulates the output to 5V. It can do the battery bank but not a cell. For measuring cells, you might consider a RC battery charger.

Have your phone more than half discharged to draw max current. Amps and watt are the same thing if you know output voltage. Watts = Voltage x Amperes

I have a Jabra 510 speakerphone that I use with my laptop. It works sometimes but sometimes causes my laptop to shutdown if I plug it in. I am not sure it’s a cable issue or maybe the batteries in the unit. Do you think a tester like this could help me diagnose?

I suppose you can do this yourself but you may have to fab your own board that taps a sense resistor off USBC, microUSB, and USBA connectors. And perhaps some annoyances with higher voltage lines on the USBC.

Well, this one wont do Apple USBC connectors like for laptops. For battery packs, I use a multipurpose battery charger, the Tenergy TB6B but any good one can check battery capacity.
