You actually convinced me to get one. A Mandarin Duck Phantom 40#. I love it! Try to practice every day. I found an arrow maker I like (Coco) that makes nice arrows with turkey feathers. 500, 30 inches (not sure what that is in cm). So THANK YOU!!! I enjoy it, it also helps with stress and personal discipline. Kind of a Zen type feeling when "in the zone", so thank you again! A new skill for life, and fun, can't beat that!

Watching the video a second time, I'll tell you Lilly that you "could" become "very good" if you were consistent. Forget about the hand-slide thing you do - just open the fingers, letting the string loose, and hold your hand in that position (even leaving the fingers open as in 'stop-action') until the arrow hits, then reach for another arrow. If you did the hand-slide thing "all the time" it wouldn't make sense to change, but you don't, so it's my opinion that you'd benefit from the change. If by chance your hand moves back "on it's own" right after you let loose of the string (which I don't think it does/would) that would indicate you're using wrong muscles for the hold. Closing one eye is something that's a bit unusual, but doesn't matter, and changing that if you've always done it would just add confusion to the "tweaking" of your shots. If you watch the video close, the variation of consistency between you and your instructor friend is very obvious. His consistency is "nearly" spot-on. That slight bow-drop thing he does every time he shoots, definitely affects his shot - even though he does it every time it would be difficult to do the "exact" amount "every time".
@BushCampingTools3 жыл бұрын
Your are right. and him dropping his arm is really obvious. But why do they not use spirally fletched arrows here?

Lilly, as a past bow hunter and competitor, I think your shooting form is pretty good. I would like to make just one small suggestion. On your bow arm (left arm) try rolling your elbow outward a bit more. It will give your a more stable hold and remove the chance of string slap on your left forearm.

I do not speak German so I probably will not watch to many of his vid but it was interesting. His bow does seem a lot louder in his video than in yours. I could see a deer easily jumping at the shot if he were hunting with that, though I am sure shoots a quieter bow if he hunts.

We bowhunt most of the last few months of the year in Wisconsin. You're shooting a lot further than we would at a deer (we use compound bows or my brother uses a crossbow due to a jacked up shoulder). The furthest we shoot is about 25m in order to deliver a lethal hit on the target. Remember that when you hunt, no matter how cautious you are and how good the silencers on your bow are that the further you shoot the more likely it is that your target will duck or move to evade the arrow. Flub the shot and you'll be tracking that animal for miles. The other thing you might want to try, if its legal where you are, is shooting actual razors rather than the practice points. They fly differently and will change your impact point.

That’s why I bought a springer air rifle, bows are great and I love mine, but every time we miss we risk damaging an arrow. With an air rifle you can hunt small game, bow for large game. Can cast your own pellets from scrap lead ect😌

I have several bows for sport, and fun hunting. When I'm going out for the big freezer packer trip I take a rifle, and crossbow. If I don't want to scare off every animal for miles the crossbow is great. I have a pellet rifle that can take down a raccoon because I can make ammo if things ever get bad in the States.

@@lonewalker33 oh I don’t get me wrong, I love recurve bows, I have a win & win black wolf 55lb limbs. My area has very rocky ground. With small game, even if you’re robbin hood, shooting at a small target, your arrow will go straight though and mess up the arrow every second shot. BTW i archered for 34 years , if you are distinctive shooting , after pulling back to shoot . dont hold onto the bow (our body will apply a bias on our shot), cradle it between the thumb and fore finger. second make sure your anchor at the cheek is exactly the same every time that said you'll see and closure on your shooting group.
