Make sure the fuel tank is earthed, the sender relies on the tank being earthed properly

G'day Muttley! Good point mate. Question - would you need to do anything in addition to the existing tank bolts to body of these things to achieve an earth? Id assume that these tanks (XR-XY Falcon anyway) would be inherently earthed due to the way they are affixed to the car. What do you reckon? Thanks for watching and the comment

@@MeatballGarage , would have to check with a multimeter to make sure. The tank should be earthed with the mounting hold down bolts. I think the original tank install was on a sikaflex type rubber compound to make sure it sealed the boot compartment. You could place that ground wire you inserted into the fuel sender connector to the frame of the sender unit as a quick check to see if it makes a difference.

Good tip - i will give that a crack on the new sender as although its seems fixed - it still could react a bit better. Then again my car has earthy gremlins left right and centre I’m slowly solving. Video of the new line/sender should be up next week or so - the old line was a SHOCKER - so many kinks in the old line 🤦‍♂️.

They can be sensitive bloody things John cant they! I always wondered why blokes would put autometer/aftermarket gauges instead of original style stuff - but after pissing around with my cars earthing issues (unrelated to this video) and the accuracy of the gauges...i can see why! What seems to stuff up on your XY? Cheers mate - Marc

@@MeatballGarage It was great until I ran out of gas with a full tank. My thought process was flawed. This does not work. Thanks for the videos. I like your channel.
