I'm actually surprised how good that simple pattern looks
@armorers_wrench3 жыл бұрын
When you do this you can use the polymer box the gun comes in to practice with your wood burner to see how long and how much pressure you need to apply to get the lines perfect. The box it came in is perfect because it's made of the same kind of polymer as the gun. Edit: I can't believe people are hating on this in the comments. You did a good job imo and it looks professional.

I have only ever done this on my Glock pistols. I like too change the direction and pattern of my stippling for aesthetic purposes only it really makes no difference in grip texture. I recommend you getting a small Dremmel Tool and buying a multi piece bit kit with it. Then i undercut my trigger guards with the grinder attachment, then polish it after. I also use a fine plunge cut bit to outline my stippling and create borderlines around the frame. Then i wire wheel or brush over all the stippling to remove sharp edges and finish it off by polishing everything. Takes a lot of time but its def worth it!!! A quicker way but still as effective is you can buy apoxy resin and graphite polymer powder. You tape of where you want the grip then brush on the resin and sprinkle the powder over it lightly. Then hang it by the trigger guard for 24hrs and your done. Thats a much more aggressive texture tho so it could be irritating on your stomach if you conceal carry for long periods of time.

Thank you for this video! I've been stippling since April of last year, I wanna say? I got the texturing down as if it were second nature, but the borders have always been a bit of a struggle for me. That ruler trick definitely helps, I'm hoping to give it a try soon. I'm certainly no pro, but I always recommend prepping frames beforehand, so that the texturing is more uniform and makes your job significantly easier. No need to polish it up since the soldering iron is going to cover up the Dremel marks. Your work is fantastic, thanks again for the video!

On a side note, gen 4/5 glocks have the perfect texture. On the 43/43x/48 there's no excuse why they reduced it, particularly for smaller guns that need more grip. I had to get mine stippled, it was almost slippery.

Need to sand it down if it’s a more aggressive pattern from the manufacturer. If there are deep ridges or grooves you’ll want to sand it down first. Also, you can reshape some aspects of the grip that way.

hi, i did not liked how you grinded into your handle when placing the undercut.... musst be paper thin on that spot🙈 and the stippling pattern i would had more fine and complicated.... but what i took out of this vid is your idea with the straight edge.... thats worth gold👌🏾 i did my thumbrest on my m&p9c 1st gen using this method(placung straight lines with the ruler)and it came out like lazercut😍 i just used a narrow pointed tip not on fullblast,tipping very lightly and short small dips(by taking small distances and light taps it makes it really sharp).... and pushed the outside with with the straight edge into a very crisp line...wow. i think taking your time and pay attention on that part makes or brakes the job for real. i will use that straight edge on my 17gen5 body wich received the perfect undercut so far....

Would be cool if you angled the dots for different facing grip on different parts of the handle. Like for the back of the handle toward the top you could make them face downward then then as it gets toward the bottom of the back part the dots gradually and consistently begin to face up so that if the pistol kicks the drip stays in place in your hand a little better with the dots facing in these directions. Then as you work your way to the sides from the back of the handle you can make the dots face forward for a sensation of the dots tugging onto your grip. And on the very front you put the dots down at no angle. Or perhaps you could make one row face left and the next row face right or make the individual dots follow a pattern like each one faces a different direction (left/up/right/down) might be cool if you experiment with it. I suppose one could also use different size/shaped tips on the wood burner or even make designs. Just some ideas. Forgive my crude terminology I love guns but I'm still somewhat a beginner as far as learning about them.
@TheHobbyGunsmith2 жыл бұрын
No worries we all start somewhere, I like your input. Look at the starburst pattern on stippling this might kind of be what you described. Stippling as dumb as it may sound is like art in my opinion.
