Can you clean and re-use your felt-bobs?
@TheHobbyGunsmith
@TheHobbyGunsmith 2 күн бұрын
You can but i wouldn't go through the trouble. i typically use a dedicated bob for the same compound or rouge and don't use it with any other rouge. the only way to truly clean them is getting a file and basically spin/rasp the layer off to clean felt again. makes a mess and just cheaper to use a new bob for different compounds. in my opinion.

how many rounds until you need to redo it?
@TheHobbyGunsmith
@TheHobbyGunsmith Ай бұрын
There is no actual round count, its more of a as needed basis, but really one time job unless the ramp gets really rough after years of extended use. remember when you polish the metal it closes the pores not really easy to get it porous again, unless is not well maintained.

You'd think that gun companies would hire actual engineers, who know that the feedramp has to be polished? Or maybe they know something this guy doesn't know. (SMFH)
@jonathonabel1548
@jonathonabel1548 3 ай бұрын
All new guns I've bought, the feed ramps are shiny but not polished. Most of the time it's just the assembly oil they leave on the gun to prevent corrosion during storage. I know it's not necessary, but I de-grease and polish ALL mating surfaces on my gun. Even makes my Keltecs run like a Lexus.

Is the texture hard or soft after you stipple
@TheHobbyGunsmith
@TheHobbyGunsmith 3 ай бұрын
You can achieve both depending on your preference, if you like it harder then leave alone after stippling, if you like it softer you give it a quick once over with 300-600 wet dry sandpaper to soften up the texture.
