Nice video mate. I moved into a house with a terrible lawn. Bumpy, tonnes of dandelion, thistle and other foreign weeds. Not even wildflowers to speak of. I removed all the thistles, seeded the bare patches, and mowing every 3 days. Buffalo turf is the main grass type in Sydney. It's very weak in this lawn. The base is quite wet with a lot of shade from coniferous trees to the north. I should top-dress it.

Can we get a video on watering Daniel? How much, how often, for how many weeks, using what tools etc. All these wonderful videos on scarifying, overseeding, top dressing etc will go to waste unless a proper watering regime is understood. Thank you.

I water between 6am and 10am over May June.. weather dependent..10 mins with hose...soaked but not drenched and the days raising temps slowly evaporate water the right way...don't water in evening at all...asking for lawn disease if you overwater regular😊

Another great video ! Just a quick question / I’ve been following all your advice to a tee …..(although now having seeded the lawn I massively regret not killing the whole thing off first 😂) But the the new seed has taken well in place and no so much in others. Would you recommend really regular mowing with the cylinder (for example every 2 or 3 days) to try and thicken things up or would you let the grass establish before regular mowing ???
@DanielHibbertLawnExpert

Cylinder mowing does thicken up the lawn quicker but you should rotary cut till lawn established

Hi Daniel, here's a question - I only have one sprayer kit, and it was last used for weed killer. How thoroughly should I wash it out before using it for a different product type - e.g. liquid fertiliser or wetting agent? - or should I definitely keep a separate sprayer for weedkiller?

As crazy as it may seem a black plastic sheet is a great place to start. Lay the black sheet - I’ve used thick black sheeting which is damp proof membrane from ScrewFix. Lay it over a section of the lawn and leave it over all night. Need to get up early in the morning 5am and as you remove sections of the sheet be ready to grab all the large larvae 🐛. I managed to get over 150 off my lawn last year doing this method. Be quick as the minute they see light they are back into the lawn. Ideally you need the lawn short and moist before you put the black sheeting on.
