How To Thin Your Lacquer Paints. It's Really Easy!

Hey guys! A new tutorial video for you guys! It's been a while since I do any tutorial video on my channel.
A lot of you guys have been asking me what ratio I use for my paints. I hope this video will help you guys thinning better paint and have a smooth paint finish on your kit!

Even after you think you thinned to get the consistency of milk, it's still best to spray on a test piece or spoon first just to see if you got it right before painting your actual gunpla part. Some paints behave differently and may need to be thinned more, like metallic paints.

I know pretty much all of the best modelers I subscribe to have said that the milky consistency trick is the best way to thin and now having your input and same guidance definitely makes me feel better about this method of measurement. Plus I liked the fact that you showed us how the paint will apply when over and under thinned . You are awesome and I hope to see more of these tips and of course your creations. Thank you.

Really appreciate you show example of thick paint because the first time I thinned my paints, it ended up exactly like you showed. Dried too fast and the surface was too rough and didn't leave glossy finish like it supposed to. This is really helpful!

Great video, here in México is really hard to find laquer paints, but recently I discovered that some stores will have Tamiya LP series so I will get some to do some testing

This is just my personal opinion but I think just saying "the consistency of milk' is not useful. Milk is different consistencies all over the world. It's best to work in known ratios. KZbin is full of videos sharing known ratios that are proven to work. If you need to mix two brands with different viscosity just mix each up separately using the known ratios and then mix them together. Simple.

This is definitely the best way to go about thinning paints. Trying to have exact ratio sounds nice but it can often be a hindrance; especially if you use different brands of paints.

I use acrylics and lacquer paints for my kits. Can I mix the type of thinner for both type of paints? Or do i have to use acrylic thinner for acrylic paints? And lacquer thinner for lacquer paints? I want to buy just one type of thinner. thanks Phat

I usually just do one to one ratio. I will empty out a whole bottle of Mr hobby paint into an empty bottle and fully the mrhobby bottle with thinner and pour it in and it comes out fantastic everytime. Works for every single lacquer and enamel paint I have ever used
