I am loosing my love for architecture...and I'm an architect. Its happening as I'm not having the chance to work,to show the work,no one believing in my work,my creativity etc etc etc...many reasons!Your videos are giving me hope Sir. And that I must pursue my dreams, exercise while I'm without work. God bless you!

I feel so inspired after watching your videos! I'm (like most of your viewers I suppose) an architecture student, and I must say that I enjoy it very much! Despite a lot of work and sometimes a little of sleep. You inspired me to drawing again! If I had a teacher like you, that would inspire students to do a simple sketch of an idea or an existing building instead of detailed drawing of chair or a boxes on a B1 paper size I would have never hated it at all! I'm going to draw again! after a year!

Peace to Barry Berkus, world renowned Architect, and inspiration to many others, and even those like myself that only sought to become a Drafstman or CAD/Revit Technician. He passed away in 2012. He was 77.

@ArtinArt Thats actually a very good question! I'll try to explain as well as I can. Soccer players have to practice kicks and exercises to gain the ability to produce a good game. In a similar way artists and architects have master pieces and piles of quick "badly" drawn or pieces. Architects also produce piles of sketch models that many find difficult to appreciate. What Barry Bercus is doing is how creative people find the ideas they need to produce something worth producing.

"CHARTPAK" markers. These are probably the best, and have a wide range of tones, but they´re pretty expensive. I recommend a 2 greens for vegetation, 2 blues for skies, a sepia, a beige, 2 grays, and a Blender which allows you mix and blend for watercolor effects. For other colors you may use the more economical water-based markers.

Im Brazilian, love your work mr. Berkus, there is something I would like to share with you : after discovering the google street view I found out that many places in the world looks ok, even those poor like some asian, african or latin countries, but my country Brazil is extremely weird, caothic, terrible and I wish brazilian cities wasnt so damn ugly, cause they seem caothic, horrible, dangerous even without the slums. Sometimes I get myself wondering how did Brazil get to this situation. I believe that is because we have very few architects in Brazil, and many of them are just horrible, full of soviet ideas, its sad

@rafabarakat well, i'm not near Mr. Berkus, but i can assure you that if you're thinking about the future and profits of the career, then you're probably studying the wrong thing. Architecture (well i guess every discipline) is all about LOVE for what you do. It's kinda like the girl who treats you like shit sometimes but you still love her after all. I'm an architecture student myself and also have a hard time on school, but i keep on doing it not because i have to, because I love it.

@ArtinArt I disagree, these drawings are so much more powerful than 'realistic' and almost 'photographic' sketches. They depict the environments of the cities very well, through only a few simple lines.
