Any idea why the vice on conduit bender is never vertical? There must be a reason for it because you'd think it'd make more sense to have it a 90deg to the floor.

Evolution chop saw, REMS threader, step drill bit to ream. Former only comes on site when you have to do an off/inset. The rest is done with elbows & boxes. New conlock system kinda makes a mockery of the art. Missing from the video is appropriate PPE. Face shield, L5 gloves & apron/chaps. People laugh but, when they get swarf splinters stuck in their fingers & decide to take a leak… the shoe is on the other foot 😂

Great video Gary as always. Just a note, the blasé way you throw your file to the floor at 1:42 is not desirable. The file could shatter and I would not treat my own tools that way. Most people have a 4 inch bit of conduit and unistrut tie-wrapped to the bender. The conduit to hold a round file, the unistrut to hold a flat file. I’m old-school, so manual all the way. These kids today don’t know they’re born with that electric threader. I remember having to thread nipples out of a length of conduit by hand because we’d run out - ah, the good old days as a first year apprentice. That and doing the tea run and getting moaned at by the miserable old bastard because he’d got 1 sugar instead of three. Also, with the manual threader, the shank of the stocks and die are facing inward to guide the cutter along the conduit and hold it square (which is what I do). In the electric version, does he have it the wrong way round? It looks like he’s putting the cutting face directly on the conduit without the guide to hold it square. Sorry for the long comment.

We use a hand threader. Dumb learners don’t use lubricant and it’s blunt 😔

You’re nuts fit into the grove 😂 ,, And Gaz why would someone with your experience just throw his tools on the floor ie the file not a good idea , look after your tools and they will look after you and serve you for many many years. I always loved working with conduit , but haven’t done for years so i’am well out of practice. Great video as always Gaz 👍👍👍❤️ Then you you spoiled it with that electric threader , no one has or use’s the skills they learn at college anymore. Old school for me every time.
