YOU'RE SO AWESOME! I spent the winter month's giving my entire kitchen a DIY facelift from top to bottom! I'm just now today finishing my new vinyl flooring and didn't know what to do about the transition's, which I have 3 of,...one goes from the new vinyl, to a carpeted bedroom, another from new vinyl, to vinyl (same level) in bathroom, and the 3rd, new vinyl to ceramic tile foyer and I was starting to panic having coming this far and wondering what I was able to put down! You just saved me a TON of undue stress!!!!!! I commend you and LOVE your video's and you as a person are so cool,....excellent musical intro too! I'm a 54 yr old rocker and always will be :) Thanks a million!!!! Audrey

When i bought my house, i hired some craigslist guys to install my laminate floor. They did an ok job with the floor, but for reasons pertaining to their poor work ethic, i let them go with the transitions still remaining. They've been in my garage for 6 months, and i'm using these social isolation days to do projects. Thresholds today. I noticed i had both T-transitions and the step-transitions still in the box. Youre video did a perfectly fine job of explaining what i've got, and how to install them. Time to go to work. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

Suggestions for creating a floor transition when it's too wide for regular transitions you would purchase at a hardware store? 2"+ wide?
@homemend
@homemend Жыл бұрын
Hey audio. Great question, I have run into this, you can miter the edge shave off of 45 of a one by six, if you mitered both sides you can create a decent transition for a wide space, you can use oak or pine both but both would work great. If you can’t meet or you can also trim it out and shoe molding to give it a rounded edge. I hope this helps!

Hi. :) I’m installing vinyl plank flooring today in the kitchen. The living room is already done. I’ll be starting from the far end of the kitchen and coming to meet the living room. I don’t have the T piece yet but want to go as far as possible today. I’m seeing online that I should leave a 1 to 1 1/4 inch gap and that sounds insane. Wouldn’t it just be 1/4 or maybe 3/8 in order to accommodate just the middle lower part of the T? The rest of it sits on top of the flooring right? Thanks for any insight!

I have a tile transition going to laminate. There’s a 1/2 inch gap and 1/2 deep. I’ve been trying a threshold that includes sort of like a aluminum “U” channel that you have to screw into wood? And then push in the threshold to it? None of the flooring is leveled. Am I using the wrong one? Any recommendations? Thanks!!
@homemend
@homemend 2 жыл бұрын
Hey josh. The u shaped ones with the track are for laminate flooring. I would try to use one like I had here. The solid wood is easier to shoot down or glue if needed. Sometimes you have to take the best solution even if no solution you come up with is the correct one, is it possible to trim out the edge of the laminate floor with a flat wood transition and then possibly grout the gap in the tile? If it’s going to look ridiculous than the answer is no, but I can’t see it. If you want to get plugged into the meeting at work you can send me messages upload pictures and we may be able to come up with a solution. 🙂
