Is it straiter or just more understable? Also i thonk it will glide less. The driver took off to the right. Try throwing flat or anhyzer. Does it stay strait or turn into a roller?

Use a hole puncher to be really accurate. They sell sets that will punch through leather all the way up to one inch. Burning it in makes zero sense as an experiment.
