I don’t know the name of this knot. Please add it to the comments if you do. It’s an adjustable locking knot. Special thanks to Charlie the Pug for modeling the leash.

Would you show us how to make a “dog harness”? These seem to be more comfortable for the dog.
@markmillenium4382 жыл бұрын
I use a Spanish Bowline for a dog harness. It works very well, but use a thicker rope, like 5/8". (Getting the proper size was always a challenge for me)
@kaidevita6762 жыл бұрын
If comfort is your main concern you would probably just go for an actual harness. It would be more comfortable than any rope.

How is a collar less comfortable than a harness? A collar is so much less bulk on the dog's body.
@Bozemanjustin2 жыл бұрын
For a dog that pulls. Have a collar around their neck that doesn't move like that, but then run the tagline down their back and make a slip loop, around its tummy. So the idea is if the dog pulls on the rope, the slip loop squeezes its tummy behind its rib cage. Even at 100 lb dog can be walked by a child, because the dog does not want to feel that rope squeeze its stomach, so when the dog starts to pull tension, the dog will immediately quit pulling

I went to buy a harness at a pet shop, and the poor guy working spent about 25 minutes trying to fit my dog with an overpriced harness, when some lady walked in with this set up… I tried it 2 seconds later and left without the harness. 😂

Great! I need one for my cat!❤. She's happy sitting on my lap outside or sitting in the grass..Unless perhaps something gets too scary for her then she might run off. I have a good cat harness but it takes to long to put on and she gets angry. Great job❤. Looks easy enouph to remember.

Hey sorry, I don't know how else to contact you except by commenting on your most recent video. I desperately need a knot that I can tie my shoes with with one hand. I just had rotator cuff surgery and one arm is in a sling. This is a very common surgery and I'm sure there are many people that would really appreciate it. My one hack so far is that I've found that I can hold one string tight by standing on it while I tie the other string with my one good hand. TIA!

This is cool but to others seeing it: dont use unless you KNOW you're doing it right. Lots of cool knots on this channel I've copied without really understanding why it works, but if I mess up there's no consequence. Not the case here.

A knot with comparable properties is the Honda Loop. Here, however, instead of the overhand stopper knot, the overhand knot should be tied as shown in the video. Note: The Honda Loop alone, not as Lasso Loop. This would strangle the dog.

@audigex2 жыл бұрын
Having just tried this, I think it's probably important to get the right rope thickness - with my climbing rope this *definitely* doesn't hold tightly, and a dog would easily escape the collar even with the extra turn on the bight for stability. With a thinner line it does hold okay I think I'd rather just tie a bowline - it's not as quick and easy to adjust, but much more stable
@williamharshman95722 жыл бұрын
I noticed that also...you can add a half hitch and it will not slip. 550 Paracord works but the 1100 slips without a half hitch.

Nice! I'm trying to make a parachord ranger-loop/daisy-chain collar for my fiesty kitten. But she won't stop viciously attacking so I can fit her. Do you have a quick fitting (non-noose) knot I could learn, that would allow me to get the collar on her and adjust it as she grows? Your stuff is always great! Appreciate ya. Stay awesome, sir.

Having had to make a dog lead with a stray dog last week this would have been perfect, as the cooker it was wearing was too big and he could pull his head out. I used a kalmyk into the coller. Your way would have worked better..I always carry two arms length of paracorde. And last week it was used yet again.

This is more legit but a taut line works great too
@sampickett38432 жыл бұрын
I thought the same at first, so I did a comparison with the tautline hitch. The big difference is with this leash knot, pulling on the leash will not cause the loop to tighten on the dog’s neck. Only by pulling on the short end can you tighten up on the loop. With the tautline hitch, it is the opposite and you change the loop size by pulling on the long end. So if you used the tautline hitch and the knot comes “undressed” just a little bit you could tug on the leash and have the loop close up on the dog’s neck.
@camronrice57132 жыл бұрын
@@sampickett3843 I would say try again a different way because if used the taut line for my goats as well many times and it never constricts.
@sampickett38432 жыл бұрын
@@camronrice5713 I have only used it for camping. Mostly for tarps and sometimes for old style cabin tents. It is a reliable knot, but I have never used it for an animal. Maybe it is very unlikely that an animal would be able to accidentally undress the knot while it doesn’t have tension on it and then have it slip

This is not same, but similar to the adjustable grip hitch knot, especially the 2 loop way of doing it. The "adjustable grip hitch knot" can be done for tying your gym shorts better than the slicing sheet knot you showed on another video kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5O3inZ-hbGKgqs - but the way you tie it in this video is very nice. Cool!
