This is a super simple, quick way to make a micro loop out on the river. If you tie this loop in the end of your sighter material you can attach your tippet to this in the same way that you would use a tippet ring.

Thanks, I saw you tie this a couple of years ago for attaching bream flies... it's now my go to knot for that. Cheers Simon

Ah excellent! Yes it's a really good loop knot and very fast. :)

Tippet rings are absolutely the best for that. Perfection loop would be my next choice.

Love this! going to start incorporating this into my leader on the sighter. I have tried micro rings in the past but have only had frustration with them and are such a pain to use.
@PeachyFlyFishing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, hope it helps! Yep micro rings can be good but damn they are easy to lose when you're trying to tie them on. The micro loop in the line is slightly lighter too. :)

a cinch knot works but I use a Davy knot. They both work well. Make sure you lubricant before tightening.

What you have tied is a mini version of the non slip mono loop. Great video.
@PeachyFlyFishing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Randall, glad you enjoyed it! If you look closely, it's actually a slightly different knot to the non-slip loop knot, it's called Dave Chilton's loop knot (he is a legendary UK angler and tackle manufacturer). I've found this to be a fabulous knot for light fluorocarbon in particular, but it's also very useful because you can easily resize the loop before tightening. :)
@jfsebastian78113 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the distinction. I see the difference and will practice this knot and put it into play.

It's easier if you do a perfection loop and stronger. The trick is too pull the tag end, before pulling the standing line to make a small loop.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. :)

any issues with passing through rod guides? I love this as tippet ring failure is "catastrophic", especially when cold.
@PeachyFlyFishing3 жыл бұрын
I haven't had any issue with that, generally speaking I use this to connect from the sighter to the tippet, I usually only fish 6 - 7 feet of tippet so it never comes through the guides in the normal course of fishing.....

A perfection loop ends with a smaller knot and the loop extends straight from the end of the leader naturally rather than having to force it straight
@PeachyFlyFishing2 жыл бұрын
I like the perfection loop as a knot, but have you found a way to control the size of the final loop, to make it tiny?
@RatManAl2 жыл бұрын
@@PeachyFlyFishing yes, it's not too difficult to control the size of the loop, similar to this, you pull the knot up close and can manipulate the size of the loop from there.

That looks really tempting. I might try it instead of the perfection loops I tie. They work well but can cause the odd tangle with a fine tippet. I don't fancy tying on rings at all-the less less fiddly fly fishing is the better as far as I'm concerned. Best wishes. :-)

How do you attach tippet?
@MrRourk3 жыл бұрын
Use your favorite knot for attaching a hook. Instead here you tie it to the loop.
@PeachyFlyFishing3 жыл бұрын
As Fredrick says, just use a normal knot to attach tippet to the loop, not a loop to loop. My favourite for this is the Pitzen knot, aka the 16 20 knot. But a double davy works well also. :)
@jasonwalker19593 жыл бұрын
and - have you found that the tippet will notch into the loop and eventually result in loop failure?
@PeachyFlyFishing3 жыл бұрын
I think all connections of this type should be replaced and updated somewhat regularly, as with all knots it's better to do that than wait until it fails......:)
@PeachyFlyFishing3 жыл бұрын
@@blackraventrails639 Thanks for letting me know, maybe try tying a double section of the tippet to the loop and see if that helps? All leaders and tippets are going to fail at some point in the system, I suppose what we want to do is design them so that they are as strong as possible but have a designated failure point as low down the leader as possible, so we don't have to re-tie the whole leader...thanks for the feedback and let me know how you go.
@RatManAl2 жыл бұрын
@@blackraventrails639 you could use loop to loop connection?
@richardcanfield2236 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your video, like the loop it works very nicely. Only suggestion I would make is that you lubricant the knot before pulling it tight. A little spit goes a long way. Thanks again.
