I love my peggins strings. So happy with the two i got. Addng the brake-away helped be able to use the pegging string on my western saddle . im using a western saddle as a sawbuck. Thank you so much trail head. You guys rock.

That is one of my questions....I user an over the saddle pannier for my western saddles since I ride after I pack in. Do the "Peggins strings" work on a western saddle? I assume you attach them to your cinch rings and the loop is behind the cantle? Doesnt seem the like the pull would be pulling the cinch up, instead it would be pulling it to the rear but maybe not? What is your experience?

If you ALWAYS use hard side plastic panniers (high country) is a half breed necessary?

No, you don't need a half breed. It is another layer of protection for your animal so we always use them. The side board on the half breed is designed to disperse the weight of whatever you are packing (hard pack box or any other load) so that it's not a pressure point on the side of your animal. So, required...no, recommended, yes.
