There are many methods in tying this age old knot system. Take a look at my Timber hitch, slip knot, slipped half hitch tie off method.

Great tutorial. Looks like you not only did a wonderful job but that you also gave that tree a hug. Congrats!

Jim as a climbing instructor, you are world class. I would trust you and your instructions with my life. Why? because you truly know how to teach. Less is more, in this video you teach not one but 3 different slipped hitch knots? That flat out work! I love you're quick release "No Knot" videos"...Thank you.

Jim, I'm a colossal dumbass. Your method of doing it over and over again in the same video is outstanding. By the end of the video I totally understood it and I'm able to do it. Awesome.

I figured this out myself a few years ago, except for that last piece where you go through the loop a second time. I just learned about that in the last few days. This is the only video I've seen where it is _clearly_ explained that the second time around needs to go _under_ the first one, so thanks for that little piece of info!

I could have directly looked for a tutorial on how to tie this knot, what you usually get is some form of sleight of hand rope magic with references to other knots that you don't know and are confused by...THIS is how you teach a guy like me, loved the intro too!

Excellent. Clear and concise. Well photographed (videographed). No diesel trucks passing in the background with blaring horns. No shaking camera. YEA!

This is by far the best how to on tying a truckers hitch that I came across while trying to learn a few knots. I bought a kayak and transport it on the roof of my car. I didn't like having straps in my line of sight for bow and stern tie downs, and wanted to use some good cordage instead. You made it very easy. I was so happy when I was sitting here trying to tie my chair to my desk while watching and I got it right. Thank you!

These are very cool techniques. Thank you. I have used a different half-knot style hitch to tie down brush and loads on trucks that use a little different method. Your method unties easier.

Thank you. I’ve been watching knot videos for half hour and yours was the first one that was thorough enough in its explanation for my monkey brain to understand fully. Others made assumptions on my skill level and left out steps that made it difficult to follow.

What do you think is the best hitch to use on the other side of the truckers hitch if you are not tying onto a tree? For example, tying a kayak onto a truck. I saw the G.E. hitch but have also read some not so great reviews on it. Thanks so much!

Jim, help! Perhaps I’m using the wrong rope, but I’m having trouble getting that double pass through the loop to work. The practice rope is kinda old, could that be the problem??!
@climbingbushcrafter Жыл бұрын
Yes. Works best with paracord. Is that what you were using?
@Chitario2 жыл бұрын
Instead of the timber hitch just do a clove hitch? It is faster, will tighten itself when pulled on, super secure, will never slip and really easy to untie when needed.
