Very good instructional video. The rope makes the procedure much more obvious than learning by watching the same with the thread. Glad you took the time to show us and I’m really glad I watched it (over and over). Thanks

When I was teaching a fly tying class I taught this knot before they learned anything else. That was so many years ago and now one can learn so much more on the internet

Yeah I tried to teach myself when I was a kid by reading a book. I got so frustrated with it I didn’t pick it up again until my late 20s. The internet is a great source for sure.

I'm going to study this video until I get the hang of it. I slowed the speed down in settings so I can observe it more easily. Just got my first fly tying vise. Thank you!

Nice. It took me a while to get the hang of it but with practice, you’ll get there.

Thank you! Excellent tutorial! Using the larger diameter rope really made whip finishing by hand easily understandable.

You’re welcome. Someone showed me how to do this with a rope a long time ago and it made so much more sense after seeing it like that. Felt it was only proper to do the same for others.

I use a Wolff Indiana Apex fly tying vise. Had it for several years now and I really like it.

Is that really a "whip finish " I beg to differ...
