Only just come across you thom glad I did I was tying palomar knot for ages as started dropshotting years ago before it got really popular. Last 3 years tho I gave it up as got back into float fishing for perch on lakes as moved away from local canals and rivers so don’t want to travel as I travel to and back to work 5 days a week enough for me. But yeah doing ok on some lakes where I live one lake done a 5.2lb perch on live bait intended for catfish. So I’m on that but jigging and dropshotting and most of all I’m loving is just a rod reel landing net unhooking mat box with lures and hooks some dropshotting weights that fits just right in pocket. Happy days. Anyway thanks for great tips mate, hope for that five pounder.

When I first started drop shotting I used the palomar knot but wasn’t happy with the angle of the hook. After losing a few fish in one session I swapped to this knot and it has made all the difference.

Thom outstanding video and tip on the hook knot, it's a million miles better than the palomar for dropshotting, get better hooking ratio and land more of the fish too. Best wishes and stay safe and well to you and your family buddy

Agreed. Don't know how the palomar is still being taught as the correct dropshotting knot, this is far superior (does it have a name?). Great tip on the semi-weedless nose hooking (rocky, weedy, clear Norwegian ponds and lakes), I'll be trying that.

I agree this knot out performs the palomar on both hooking capabilities and landing the fish too. To me it's a flawless hook presentation. Top tip from Thom

Nice video, are you doing only technical videos ? Would love to see a video about your journey as a pro.

Hi David, yes could do one on that. Was there anything specifically you wanted to know? Or just the story of becoming sponsored/fishing tournaments etc?

great vid! in terms of weight, what is your go to in grams for canal fishing for perch?
@Thomhuntfishing3 жыл бұрын
For shallow canals up to 4 or 5ft I use around 2g or 3g. If the wind gets up maybe a little bit more. Drop shot is a finesse technique for me so the lighter the better. For deeper canals to 10 or 12ft deep Id use 7-10g 👍🏻

Hello im looking for perch fishing rod in the canals, would u recommend me something?

Westin Street stick 6’ 2-7g is a great allrounder. The W3 if you’re on more of a budget, the W6 if you’re looking for a more expensive rod 👍🏻
