A rope bag, cool, I need to do that while I'm on lock down. Interesting, apparently I've been using the marlin spike hitch for the trucker's hitch knot and didn't even know it.

Was wondering about that knot. Thanks for showing it. Will come in handy, hopefully soon. ( A trailer for the barge, like everything else, is on indefinite hold ... )

Dang ty, I always just made a slipknot to loop truckers hitch through, but you are right, it is a marlinspike! Never saw that. Hang it on the knot, not the toggle... lol

great knot
@scrumptrelecent73724 жыл бұрын
Quick tip, if you loop the truckers hitch through twice it makes the knot profile bigger and easier to take apart.

Brilliant video I’m still a little unsure of how you tie it off, I’ve been attempting this knot but struggle with the last knot
@30mofishing2 жыл бұрын
simple half hitch at the end.

Hi, I was wondering why you should use a toggle and clip the hammock above the toggle? I’ve been clipping my hammock into where you’re saying to put the toggle
@30mofishing2 ай бұрын
Now days I just clip the carabiner right to the rope. It's like its own toggle. U got the right idea I think

Will this work for tying a kayak to a a car roof? Would u just put the hammock knot at one end of the rope or use a bowline knot?
@30mofishing4 жыл бұрын
Yep. I use it for just about anything I need to crank down tight on.

loved the second knot, but the first wasn't close to a truckers hitch, (20 years in tree work) A true truckers hitch: tie off in front, lay your tag line on top of the main, and do a simple twist so the tags encircled, draw your tag end to the tie off point, you're done. you NEVER want to fully knot your ropes. In tree work, knots, such as a Bolen, or running Bolen/ Clove must be able to untie quickly, as you demonstrated. Trucker hitches in tree work are used mainly to produce pull, and many times to draw an object tight/secured...

the second knot was a "Bolen", and never seen It tied that way, great knot as well. I wish I could show you the easiest way to tie a "running Bolin". 30, taking out huge wood over structures requires knots that are simply untied, with no stress on the rope. let me try. you go around something (eye hook?) so you have 2 leads coming at you, instead of 1 lead, you now have 2. again, the same way, put the tag over the left lead, incircle the same, and now you have 2 ropes holding. great luck this summer!

It’s spelled “bowline" but pronounced bolen.

I’m an old Boy Scout ..... I always have rope around due to its many uses. I will grab a piece of rope and practice knots just to keep the skill fresh in my mind. If you don’t use it ya lose it.
