I don't know how I found my way to this side of KZbin but I'm an outdoorsman, avid hunter, and a 3rd generation Farmer. I tried this just to try it and it's the only knot that has not come untied yet. And is easy get off. I don't like knots that take a lot to untie or come untied. I'm constantly around fast spinning objects and plenty of things that can take my leg from me if I do get my boot stuck or catch a lace flowing in the breeze. a simple yet tough knot and this is the one. I've used it for about 3 months now and will never go back! Thank you!

@dsandoval9396 Жыл бұрын
There's a quick and easy (and dirty) version that's basically just doing one side and then tightening the whole thing. It still keeps the knot in place, nothing is going to undo it, but alas, visually it looks like the son that always wanted to do things half way because "it's good enough". Only recommended if you're in an absolute hurry (going to miss your flight) or if you're tying drawstring shorts, other than that I'd say use the full classy version.

This knot also is perfect for drawstring pants so that the knot doesn't creat a huge bump. Thank you! I am also using it for my shoes. Your explanation was so clear, this has become an easy knot to do. I think the shorter and stiffer laces make it more difficult than with other laces and strings.

BRAVO KIRBY!! Another great tip from the Hanger Project. Since learning the Parisian knot from your videos I've used it almost exclusively until now. Although more secure than the square knot, the Parisian did tend to slip during the day requiring one to retie it once or twice a day. Not so the Berluti! It holds and holds with no maintenance required, then is undone by a simple pull on the strings! Thank you for yet another great dressing tip.
@kirbyallison6 жыл бұрын
The Berluti knot is pretty great! I still find the Parisian knot easier to tie, but maybe this is because I have more practice.
@yeepee9994 жыл бұрын
Hi Kirby, first of all, I would like to thank you for introducing the Berluti knot. After watching your video for several times. Finally, I managed to get it. Following are my understanding of tying the Berluti knot. Step one, I twisted the laces twice instead of one. Step two, form two Bunny ear with a hole bellow. Instead of left over right, I do it right over left, bcos I am right handed. Step two, grad the right bunny's ear n d left end l squeeze both inside out of d hole below. Step three, grab d left bunny's ear n d right end, squeeze it outside in to d hole. Step four, use d two bunny's ear to adjust it kneatly. Once again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

If you've tried this a bunch of times following the video and your knot keeps tilting to the side, make sure you cross the RIGHT lace over the left one in the beginning. Then follow the steps as shown in the video. If you cross the left over the right, the knot will tilt to the right.
@michaelccozens Жыл бұрын
I wonder if the instructions might benefit from dropping "left" and "right" and substituting the more precise "medial" (ie closer to the centre of the body/"median axis") and "proximal" (ie. farther from etc). Seems like the key for a balanced knot on both shoes is to start by crossing the "outside', or proximal, lace over the "inside", or medial, one.
@jojocastillo292310 ай бұрын
@@michaelccozens..... The opposite of "medial" (meaning towards the middle or median) is "lateral" (meaning towards the outer side) while the opposite of "proximal" (meaning close, nearby or next to) is "distal" (meaning away or distant). We use this terms in Medicine and Surgery.

Very cool and well explained. One good thing about this (besides being interesting, and neat looking and an indulgence for those ritualizing things like this) is that it uses up more lace, so if your laces are just a little longer than you'd like this might be just the thing. (Thus I have already appointed this knot to a pair with this 'issue') Really this impressed me almost as much as when I first learned about Ukrainian lacing which I find such a joy to use on lace-up boots) Also, I gave you a sub. Yay.

I got it! The first time I tried Berluti on thick laces, it was lop-sided. The imbalance was getting on my nerves and start to tick me off. But, after checking if I followed the technique correctly, I discovered that it was my initial knot that was the culprit. So I changed my usual left-over-right knotting to right-over-left, that was kind of awkward, being so used all my life with the former. Then tried the Berluti again, and it was perfect. Exactly as shown in this video. Since then (Hmm 9 mos.?), I've been doing Berluti knots on all my shoes. Thanks Sir Kirby.
