@@RosarioCooking I just made one and mine needed more than 20 mi it’s but I’m still enjoying it thanks ! I didn’t have the ingredients to make the sauce so I’m using Caesar Dressing which is ok. I didn’t do flour but cut it and dipped it in egg and then did the bread crumbs with lots of seasoning 🥰

Should be made with chickpea flour or a.k.a chat flour. If you use regular white flour! You'll lose the Indian authentic taste and texture.

Amazing recipe, thank you. Trying tonight! 1 large onion 1 large lid 1 egg 50ml milk 100g flour 1/4 tsp black pepper 1 tsp sweet paprika 1 tsp salt Breadcrumbs Dip: 2 tbsp mayonnaise 3 tbsp sour cream or Greek yoghurt 1 tsp tomato ketchup 1/4 tsp dried garlic 14 tsp sweet paprika 1/2 tsp dried chives Salt to taste Cut the top off the onion, just a small piece to expose the onion under the skin. Peel down to the root. Cut the root off, again just a small piece to remove the root and expose the onion under it. Sit the onion, root down, into the lid. Cut the onion 8 times across the centre down to the lid to make a flower with 16 equally sized "petals": - 2 cuts - Cut the onion into quarters so you have 4 sections - 2 more cuts - Cut the 4 sections in half so you now have 8 large equally sized "petals" - 4 more cuts - Cut the 8 "petals" in half so you now have 18 thin "petals" like a flower Put the onion into iced water. Gently spread the "petals" apart to get them all wet and leave in the water for 2 hours. Whisk one egg and 50ml milk in a bowl. In another bowl add 100g flour, 1/4 black pepper, 1 tsp sweet paprika, and 1 tsp salt and mix together. After 2 hours of being in the cold water gently squeeze out any excess water from the onion and place in the flour mixture. Spoon the flour mixture over the onion, gently spreading the petals apart to make sure they are all covered. Remove and tap off any excess flour. Place floured onion into a dry bowl and pour the egg mixture over it. Turn the onion in the bowl and make sure it's completely coated in the mixture. Place coated onion on a dry plate and sprinkle generously with breadcrumbs, turning it all over and making sure all petals are coated for a super crunchy result. Remove excess breadcrumbs. Spray the air fryer with oil, place the into into the air fryer, then spray the onion with oil. Air fry at 190c for 20 minutes. Dip: Add all ingredients into a small bowl and mix together. Add salt to taste if required.

Update: I tried this with our new air fryer. It’s easy to prep and easy make. The lid tip was perfect. The seasoning was light, a hint of flavors that came through and still let the onion pop. We like our onions cooked a bit longer so we put it in the air fryer for a few more minutes and it was perfect for us. Thank you for sharing your recipe, it’s tasty and I look forward to more!

ASMR is so weird in that there are those that find it soothing & those that it drives to madness 😂 I am on the madness side! I got to the point of the breadcrumbs & was physically uncomfortable to the point of muting. Weird AI calm voices do it to me as well. It’s the unnatural tone & cadence that sets my brain afire!! 😂

I am so glad I found this presentation! I tried making a large Blooming Onion years ago on the stovetop, and it was a colossal mess. Never did it again. Thank you for posting this! I’ll look forward to trying this as it’s such a delish appetizer. Glad I found your channel and I have subscribed to it…oh, the use of the lid is brilliant🤗

Saw this as a way of doing the deep fried onion flower which I have seen elsewhere but never tried because I never deep fry. Neat recipe, and as a huge bonus the sauce allows for a wealth of variations of herbs and spices "to taste", eg. masalas for "Indian", five spice for "Chinese" (I'm stuffed from just having had dinner and I'm getting hungry already🙄) For example one of my favourite cheats is a big slug of shop bought dried mixed herbs lobbed into into shop bought mayonnaise with a light sprinkle of salt and left to stand in the fridge for an hour before using to bring out the herbs. My regular cheat is mixing that with chopped cooked chicken in a sandwich, no butter or spread needed.

Made this last night and it was very tasty. The one thing I'll do differently next time is, after cutting the onion on the lid (don't need the lid in this case obviously), I'll cut the bottom off leaving individual onion blooms/slices vs. a blooming onion. The reason is that, at least with my air fryer, the top part of the onion was cooked well, but the bottom onion part was very al dente. Also, the coverage of the flour, egg and bread crumbs will likely be more uniform if I was doing the onion blooms vs. than trying to pour it down the blooming onion, as the top of each piece had yummy deliciousness, but not so much on the bottom inside. But again, this is delicious and so much easier/cleaner/healthier than deep frying it. Thanks so much for the recipe!
