In this video I show you how to tie three different decorative lanyard knots which are the popular diamond knot as well as a Matthew Walker knot and a stopper knot. These can be used in your leather projects for drawstrings and so on as show but are also used for lanyards on knives and other items.

I just recently started in making the "Matthew Walker" knot! And have used four paracord strings, to make my first one! I even made it "Counterclockwise!" Since I'm "left handed" 😋. The book you showed at 10:25? I have that same book, and there's a "pt. 2!" Of that same book! And from that book, pt.2, I learned how to do a paracord pouch titled "Dragon's Egg!" I've even made and given away several to my sister and niece!

One of the best tutorials I’ve seen for these so called simple decorative knots. Well done.

Well done, Ian. You took a subject that has nothing to do with leatherwork, and successfully tied it to leatherwork anyway! These knots will look much better on pouches than the same old overhand knot. Thank you!

I suppose that's the problem with having a channel with one general topic, anything else and people wonder what it's doing on there! Really I can put anything on though I suppose, people don't have to watch any videos they're not interested in :)

@@Leodis.Leather hmm, how to link any project to your leather work......... "Today I'm going to be making a BBQ. I'll be using this knife, that I made a leather sheath for and some leather sandles........ lets get started"........... it might work 😋😂🤣😂🤣😂

@@Leodis.Leather I watch all your videos for 2 main reasons: 1. You present your ideas in such a clear, understandable way. 2. You are so unassuming, I never feel you are talking down to me. I honestly learn something from each video, even when you stray slightly off-topic. Bring on any subjects you want to explore, and I am sure we will all learn something we can use in our craft!

Brilliantly explained. I was having trouble tying the Diamond Knot for a knife lanyard. I still need practice, but I'm now understanding the concept better from this video than any other video I've seen on the topic!

Your version of typing the diamond knot is different from the common way. Your version makes it easier to tie that knot when working with shorter strands or limited space that makes it hard to do the initial loop around the finger(s) that's shown in the common version of this knot. Great overall video quality and clear instructions!

Three cobra knots around the drawstring of your pouch makes for a hardware free slider to keep the pouch closed.

Excellent video. I have the Ashley Book of Knots and while it is extremely comprehensive, it can also be a bit hard to to learn from because it is so comprehensive it can be hard to figure out what to use. I really like Animated Knots by Grog, both the website and the phone app. They have excellent step by step animations that are easily paused along with descriptions of what is going on and very interesting discussions of the strengths and weaknesses of each knot with links to further research if you really want to dive deep into something.

@@Leodis.Leather I've made a few bull whips from para cord a long time ago. I've actually just bought some more supplies for a couple of whips so I could put a link on here if I film any of it and if that's ok with you?
