How to tie Mylar Mackerel Crease Fly

Joe Blados designed one killer fly, the tying part is simple! I say tying but most of the fly is model making.
A common misconception is that the Crease fly is a Popper, don't get me wrong they work as a popper, but they were actually designed to be fished subsurface. on a sinking/intermediate line they will dart and dive all over the place.
This is my take on how to tie the Mylar Crease Fly

Very nice idea to use Mylar tubing instead of the sticky sheets of scale material... saves some money to use something that can be used on other patterns as well!

Inspiring video, I have one question; do these flies sometimes float on their sides? I've followed your pattern for the most part but all of my flies seem to be floating sideways, is that even an issue?

Kirk Dietrich Thanks Kirk, Cosmetic use really, just use it to tidy up the edge and make it flush with the foam. As sometime scissors leave a edge.

Very slick Rupert ! When you say "Plastidip" do you mean the stuff they dip tool handles and such into; or is it a product specific to fly tying ? Thanks, Bill Mallon

William Mallon Hi William thats the stuff Clear Plastidip nothing fancy! just work with an open window as it can give you a head ache. Sure that someone will re-bottle it one day and sell it as a Flytying Product.

Rupert Harvey Thanks Ruben ! (Last week , I passed a nail salon ;where they had their fingertips under uv light... I explained to the manager about uv resin for fly tying; and she showed me a bottle of "nail foundation" ...She said it sounded like the same thing... I bought a bottle on ebay but it hasn't come yet. The company names are "Gellish" and "MSK".. It's only about 3dollars a bottle. so I'm going to try it....(It's supposed to work with a hand held uv light ,as well)Thanks againBill Mallon
