It doesn't really matter. I prefer the type in its own sealed canister so you can just pull out what you need. Good luck with your litter.

Do you have to clamp the chord? What happens if you don't?

If you don’t there can be excessive bleeding, or the mum can be tempted to chew it too close to the abdomen. Mums tend to leave them alone if we deal with them in this way.

Hello i need help! My dog gave birth today to 4 puppies. The first three delivery were completely smooth there was no problem at all. My problem is on the 4th puppy she pushed out a puppy without the placenta but the puppy still had the umbilical cord. The puppies are completely ok now and healthy, My main problem is the placenta being stuck inside her womb. How can she get rid of the placenta? Is there a possibility of death in this scenario? This video also helped me alot

Hi is your dog ok? It’s important that she passes all the placentas as if one is left inside she will develop a life threatening infection. It’s possible she ate the placenta when nobody was looking , hopefully that’s what happened but a scan can confirm !
