Nice tie. If the lead/lead-free wire were wrapped more toward the bend, would the fly keel a bit better?

Yes, the fly would keel better with the bottom weighted more. The reason I do not like to start all down at the bottom, it would add too much weight. With the amount added in the video, this fly still keels/tracks more than enough without adding unnecessary weight. Although if you wanted to fish a little deeper, by all means, add weight down to the very keel of the hook!

Tied your fly in a size 1 hook..I bent it my self. And used buck tail instead of fiber.... Also just used large black chain eyes... Has great action good enough to have it taken by gator trout after a good battle it was landed at 32 inch in the net... 2nd time cast out.. The fish won the battle... So now back to the fly table and this time tie about 5 of them.... I am fishing out of Horseshoe beach Florida..in the Gulf coast.. Phillipe the pirate.... .
