TARPS / TENTS AND MANY OTHER CAMPING DEVICES NEED A STAKE AND LINE TO KEEP IT SECURE.MANY TIMES THIS LINE IS A SIMPLE ROPE AND A STAKE O NTHE END WITH A FEW KNOTS THROWN IN TO SECURE IT.THIS VIDEO SHOWSA NEW WAY TO DO THAT OLD JOB, A GUY LINE THAT CAN BE ADJUSTED FOR LENGHT AND NOT REQUIRE NEW KNOTS BE TIED. THE QUICK GUY-LINE IS A CORD WITH A BOWLINE ON ONE END AND A PRUSIK KNOT ON THE OTHER THAT JOINS BACK TO ITSELF TO FOR THE SELF TIGHTEN KNOT. IF THE CORDAGE USED IS 550 PARACORD OR #36 TARED BANK LINE IT WILL WORK WELL. I CREATE MY GUYLINES THEN LEAVE THEN ATTACHED TOTHE TENT STAKES AND ROLL THEM UP FOR EACH USE.THIS WILL MAKE SET UP QUICK AND FAST WITH LITTLE EFFORT.

Blackie, another innovative bush craft idea! We're limited only by our imaginations. Very useful information.

Here's a helpful hint for those using especially slippery cord. When you tie the prussic loop, instead of just making three turns, go 4, 5, or 6. Doing this greatly increases the friction so it grabs the line better. This applies to friction knots in general, the more turns, the more friction. Hope this helps!

Cheers Blackie. Brilliant video. I'm ex British Para & we used some meen knots for to put up some tarps(basha's). Use tarps & bashas alot these days sleeping out so.e weekends down on the moors. THIS VID EVERYONE, shows a frightfully simple combination of two great knots we all know to make a quick set up even faster.

Way Cool....I always added a prusik when needed from some spare looped paracord, nice to utilize the end of a bowline to create a very versatile and pre-prusik extention grab & go. Southern Man as per Neil Young....Cheers!

I love this idea. I did make one little change. I put a poachers noose on the end that normally would have the prusik. It restricts and stays tight when under pressure just as the prusik does. I put the toggle on line with the noose behind the knot and it makes the cord highly functional. Thanks again for the video, Blackie. edit: Went back to using the prusik. The poachers noose doesn't want to stay stable when under pressure.

Great idea. I will be making up several of these. Try dipping the paranoid in boiling water for about 20 seconds and let them dry out. I have done this when making paranoid boot laces. It helps the paranoid to grip better.
