A go-kart build sounds like a great "next" playlist!

Yeah that would be cool! Maybe once the pinball build is over. Thanks for the idea!

Glad to see you still have your sense of humour. Kind of a reverse sprue rebuild, just not in tool steel.
@wayofthewrench Жыл бұрын
Thank Tom! Yeah you gotta have fun or it's not worth doing it. That was a lot of sprue rebuilds......(PTSD flashback). I can thank CAPTIN for all of the TIG welding experience for sure.

Nice fix! Loved the 1-Sav-amo-tor skit. That cabinet behind you in the beginning ha 2 very familiar colors on it.....

Thanks Paul! Yeah I had fun with that part too! Those must have been common paint colors used back in the day. Thanks for the watch!

So rad!!! Love that little sequence; pobres maquinitas 😂 wonder is there is some sort of 3D printer for stuff like this…. That is what the layering reminded me of anyway… I vote you coolest shop teacher in North America
@wayofthewrench Жыл бұрын
Thanks Melissa! Yeah it kinda is what a 3d printer does and they have made 3d printing welders that work the same. Thanks for the vote! Cheers!

very nice! would you also do something on welding magnesium alloys?
@wayofthewrench Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don't weld a lot of magnesium alloys but I'll keep that in mind for future content. Magnesium casings are usually really dirty as the pores love to suck up the grease/oil and come back out when you heat them up. You often have to clean several times with acetone and carbide burrs when trying to get a clean arc puddle. Keep cleaning till you get a clean puddle. Use a high cleaning action to help keep it clean. Really be careful with magnesium dust as it is flammable and is hard to put out if a fire starts....like bury in a pile of dry sand and watch it burn hard to put out. You will need filler rods that are specially made for magnesium castings and TIG is your best choice. I believe argon/helium is the best gas choice too. Thanks for the watch! Cheers!

How did you choose the filler rods you used? Thank you
@wayofthewrench Жыл бұрын
Depends, if you know the exact metal, you match it up. If you don't, you choose a generic filler rod. For aluminum, there are certain reasons though...like if it's going to be anodized or in high heat, etc. Thanks for the watch!
