Great and clear explanation. Thank you for your teaching. I'm a beginner professional tiler in my country and i'm actually trying to situate my speed times among my pears. So would like to know how long have you been tiling and how much time do you estimate it takes to cut and glue this surface area ? hope you can help me.
@thebespokebloke3 ай бұрын
Thanks man, So I've been tiling just over 20 years (feeling old, ha). For a a wet room floor like that I'd allow a day in time, But you'd tile in in about 4 hours if you're going for it and there isn't any problems.

Great video. What do you think of the Abacus UNO that doesn’t need envelope cuts?
@thebespokeblokeАй бұрын
Thanks mate, I haven't used one.. But I'm sure they serve a purpose in the right scenario/or for a specific look. The only thing I don't like the looks of is the wedge that they have at the side rather than them being the same thickness the whole way around. (I know they have a plastic strip as a solution though) But it's hard to comment properly without using one.

Hi thank you for the informative video , i am instaling a premade , shower tray , should the wall tiles sit on it ? Or should i make the floor tiles and just slide that next to it
@thebespokebloke2 ай бұрын
Hey mate, Do you mean? Should you tile the floor before the walls? Or have you got a shower tray that isn't tiled?
@russellscott11512 ай бұрын
Nice tiling and explaination. Why have you left a strip cut out vertically down the wall as usually glass screens have a silver transition piece so don’t require this?
@thebespokebloke2 ай бұрын
Thanks mate, It's a seamless finish so the bracket sits inside the wall, So you only see the glass for a sleek look.
@russellscott11512 ай бұрын
@@thebespokebloke never done or even seen one of those sounds really nice. Thanks.
@thebespokebloke2 ай бұрын
@@russellscott1151 No worries, Yeah just something a bit different and minimalistic. You'd normally also have that same channel in the floor as well on some hidden shower screen tracks.

Awesome vid. Im using 5mm spacers. Do i need to make 5mm wide cut with the grinder or is space created with the angle its self?
@thebespokebloke4 ай бұрын
Thanks glad you like it! If you're joining on a full tile onto the envelope that isn't cut.. You just need to replicate that joint in your envelope. So you don't need to cut it with a bigger blade or anything, Just open up the gap to 5mm on the envelope so the joints and tiles line up. Hope that helps!

Great job. I’m waiting on my tiles for mine. Abacus square drain tray. 300 x 600 tiles. What size are your grout lines ? P.S I have just bought the Bosch grinder and a series 4 Sigma after watching your videos 👍😁
@thebespokebloke5 ай бұрын
Awesome! Try and get your joints to set out in a cross off of your drain for the best look! (So joint running through front and side centres) They are 2mm mate. Nice choice on the new tools, You won't be disappointed! Best of luck with it!

What is the maximum thickness of glue to create the fall for a base like this, and would you do it the day before, even if you had no wires to cover? (I hope this question makes sense to you)
@thebespokeblokeАй бұрын
Hey there, Glue thickness varies so whichever brand you have will say on the bag on in the spec. Obvs I'd recommend a pre made base for the tray rather than creating one yourself. Sometimes I'd do the tray or the outside floor before and finish the rest the next day, It just really depends on the job situation at the time. Hope that helps!
@mattsav13294 ай бұрын
What’s your preferred thickness for backer board on floor and walls please?
@thebespokebloke4 ай бұрын
I think 12mm if you can or 10mm is the perfect thickness for rigidity mate onto a stud wall. On floorboards I believe 10mm is the minimum you can go. If you're using it on plastered walls/concrete floors, then sticking 6mm to it is fine. It just depends on what your thickness constraints are. Hope that helps!

Nice video! I have one question. Do you apply any silicone around the edges of the drain after installing the tiles and grouting? I guess you applied silicone around the edges of the floor and walls. Is my assumption correct?
@thebespokebloke4 ай бұрын
Hey, Yeah so once that bathroom is all done, All the internal and external joints get siliconed. Regards the shower trap edge, yeah either or really. I grouted this one but sometimes they are siliconed. Its not a massively vital area, as any failures here and the water go's back into the trap. Hope that helps

@thebespokebloke my contractor was telling me to put the tiles on the douche tray , but kow he says it's better not to , just to put the shower tray in , at the end , with silicone... inwas thinking grout would be the best , but then with the tiles , on too of the tray

@@thebespokebloke hi , I thank you for the reply, I bought a stone shower tray , so a complete piece , the floor is ready but not the walls , so he said let's build the walls, and then just put the tray in the corner ( 4 cm high) with silicone all around and then glass on one side.I think it's best , to put the tray in the corner , put some silicon between the wall and it.and then build the wall tiles , sitting or touching the tray on the sides where it will be slightly ( 2cm ) in the wall / under the tiles , does that make sense ?
