If you're going to use a sealant, use ACRYLIC sealant. SIlicone will melt/interfere with the galzing unit.

Hi Laura, the beading will depend on the "window profile" that you have had your windows/doors made from. If you know who installed your windows, you will need to contact them as the beading is specific to your windows and not generic. If you don't know who installed or supplied the windows, it would be difficult to find out, however, a local window company may be able to help you with the bead/profile type. Hope this helps.....

DON'T FIX THEM WITH SILICONE! This causes more issues long term and doesn't actually make any difference when you are fitting them.

Thanks for your comment Steven - we find that siliconing the edge of the packers purely acts as an adhesive which prevents them from moving/dropping should the windows/doors expand in heat which may happen and cause other issues. We're unaware of any long term issues it may cause. A personal thing though and not a necessity.

@@centralwindowsystems7369 You should point out not to let the silicone interfere with the drainage at the bottom, in fact I wouldn't silicone that area at all.

@@centralwindowsystems7369 the silicone evolves acetic acid as it cures, this is able to eat through the glazing tape and soften the hotmelt. Replaced a few DGU's because of this. Worst was 2 panes on a 1 year old bifolding door and I could pull lumps of stringy hotmelt out because of the acetoxy silicone used. LMN isn't quite as bad but it's still not great. Even the adhesive on cheap edge tape can cause unit failure. There was a glass company in the Midlands that went bust over a huge contract when they cheaped out on the tape...

@@Dang_Lin-Wang your 100% right, I've been a Glazier for over 25 yrs and the only time I would use silicon while glazing is on the sides of patio doors just to stop them slipping down, being careful not to get silicon near or on the glass unit👍
