I dunno man, this games seems like you would die alot more often than wot. There are barely anytimes you get away with stupid shit cuz you get one shot most often. Wot is like "shit I lost like half my HP", unless you get death star'd to death. Now if you are talking about repair, she'll cost per game, well well, wot is millions of times worse in terms of costs per game.

I tried playing top tier a bunch, and while it went much better for me than mid and even lower tier, I really think the critical factor is one's ability to mitigate stress, and learn from mistakes made.

If you didn't go down the proper line of jets, you'll be fighting jets with insane missiles that 99% of the time get you, guns that can one click you, and then all you have is missiles that can't hit shit at all, guns that take many bursts to kill a target, etc.. It's 100% bullshit at top tier. I went down the f104 route on the america tree. I was sooo happy to be getting my first air to air missiles. I got them and they are garbage. I don't think I've gotten a single kill with them. All the enemy has to do is barely turn, and its lost the target, while I have to almost rip my wings off and pull 12g+ just to avoid a single rocket.

I spent soooooo many countless hours grinding to get the f104, now I have it, it's shit, and it's going to take even longer to get the f-4e or whatever its called, because I only play like 3 games a day max because the game is extremely stressful.

I actually have a physical copy of birds of steel and its amazing how much is still the same. Me and a friend dragged out the old 360 and played it and some things I noticed where: -Radio chatter still has lines that are in the game to this day -waypoints and markers are exactly the same as currently -game for the most part feels familiar to modern war thunder Highly recommend to anyone if you get the chance to play it, do so, For any old players it's a nostalgia trip.

I just run props and one high tier so I can get those SL from the god mode medal. They can’t lock on with heat seekers (especially if you come from the suns direction), and if you fly low then the radar guided missiles won’t work well.

Just a little side note PD type radars such as F-4EJ Kai,JA-37C Viggen and the British F-4M and K scan for i belive Pulse effect which is basicly motion/speed and that science stuff,what it does in game however is that they are very good in frontal shots,meh at back shots and will break lock if the aircraft you are locking is flying across your screen Also the PD radars ignore Chaff and Flares becouse they do not produce what the PD radar searches for

well i havent played top tier but from my dcs experience i can say that having altitude makes things harder as missles experience less drag at high altitudes which makes it easier for them to maneuver and hit you so trying to stay low is a good tactic and it also helps mask against the enemy radar

It only makes sense If ur playing the mirages or the j35 draken! Low altitude makes your movements slow and the missile will hit u without trouble but in high altitude the flares and chaff works better and u can go at your full speed without a prob while in low altitude u would Rio your wings!

@@theidiotictroublemaker2281 since the flare update I’ve not had too much trouble with IR missiles, as long as you’re vigilant, preflare and manoeuvre I’ve had much more success. Magics are usually on my team so I couldn’t speak specifically on them. I find that the new dogfight capable fox 1s and PD radar sets are more dangerous than any IR missile we have currently. Once we step into the realms of all aspect fox 2s it will change the game up.

I have two jets that I bought, the British hardier and the new French Milan.bought them because I won’t lie, been on war thunder since 2014 and wasn’t anywhere even close to jets. I do ok with the harrier since the missiles are so dang good, but I really struggle with my Milan because it’s gun oriented (since the missiles on it might as well not be there) and trying to aim at 800mph is a night mare. Plus I’m always doing the wrong maneuvers on it and loosing energy.

I find that if you have at least some experience, (I was tier 5 before I bought the tier 6 F-5C) you'll still die A LOT when you start top tier gameplay. Tier 5 and tier 6 are completely different beasts. You might come across a few jets with missiles in tier 5, but tier 6, everyone has at least 2. Keep your head on a swivel, stick closer to your team. You won't win a 1v6 when they all have guided munitions. Watch some tutorials on how to dodge missiles. Watch WT content in general, really. It's come in useful for me.

I dunno man. People are always saying it's fun but... I don't think getting a missile rammed up your tailpipe from an unspotted enemy 5km away every 7 minutes is really that fun sounding. Especially when stock grind even at 8.7 effectively replicates the feeling of C&B Torture (and not even considering the fact that those jets will drain your SL wallet faster than a mugger in Honduras). I'm really honestly still skeptical if it's as fun as earlier jets/props and if I should invest my time and frustration on it.
