I was crazy about getting top tier until I got them, then realized I liked props a lot more… it’s fun and all playing my irl favorite jets, but whenever I get the urge now I just play dcs instead. Worst of all, my “main” game mode in war thunder is naval now, I love not sweating and just watching big guns fire

Also one tip if you're engage in dogfight for some reason or if there is ennemies nearby don't hesitate to periodically drop flares, lots of people in dogfight get too focused on their ennemy and end up gettting missiled by a third party so dropping flares during your dogfights allow you to dodge missiles that you potentially haven't payed attention to

Sako, couldn’t agree more. I’m top tier jets in 4 nations and honestly it’s depressing all that work and effort to get shot down within a minute after leaving the runway. Personally I find the 9-10.3 br not too painful although the su25 is ridiculous hard to kill. War Thunder is hard when you play on your own as none of my mates play, always up for a game if you ever want the chance!

Hey Sako, Great content. One tip I would give about Fox 1 jousting is to practice maintaining a lock at the very edge of your radar beam and cranking from side to side at a maximum angle of your dish. This way, one should be full afterburner and yet such cranking manuever will bleed the energy of hostile missile.

Top Tier Air RB would become a place of joy if it was modeled exactly as Ground RB. No gamer tag indicators, you rely on your visual scanning and radar, extreme G maneuvers are very punishable than Air realistic.

When you hit the heavy premium spam around 10.0 and you don't have access to any countermeasures with stuff like the F-105 you can use Aim9 E's as standoff counters to R60's in a head-on....it's not much but you can avoid some frustration like this.

Use unguided rockets if you have em(i.e. mighty mouse rocket pods), throttle down and shoot some off when a missile is launched at you(you might be able to get away with not throttling down). Missile will follow after the rocket

A little late but make sure you turn otherwise even if they go for the rockets they can still very well hit you on the way especially rear aspect missiles

3:36 I don't think crashing into a random bit of field (or maybe even a ground vehicle or a plane, if you're very skilled) is a reasonable playstyle, especially with top tier repair costs.

1:40 Sako YEARS ago on the Shooting Rage episodes, they said they would NEVER add a premium jet to avoid people buying their way. No joke the video is still up. Also speaking of jets, anything 10.0 is just a full uptier. You'll guaranteed right 11.0s to 11.7s. It's beyond annoying. Team balancing does not exist. I'm sick and tired of playing 10.0 being forced to fight Tornadoes, high Migs and F14s. It's just not fun at all

Yes… YEARS ago, the game was completely different. Get a grip on reality, they said things like ‘we will never add ships because they are too slow, never add after burning aircraft, never add anything past 1956, etc.’ this argument is so old and useless. They meant that they wouldn’t add a final tier premium, i.e. if Tier VIII exists as the FINAL tier, then there will be no Tier VIII premiums. They still follow that rule of no top tier premiums.

How are you fightning f14's when your 10.0? The f14 is 11.7 only way to fight it is to play a 10.7 jet.

When it comes to bombing bases at top tier, I tried to spade my F-4J because I always used the F-4E and skipped the J on my way to the F-14. I have found I usually get intercepted before I get my bombs off. And this is before the F-16 and MiG-29 was added, I can’t imagine how bad it probably is now.

I don’t really agree that 8.7 is missile spam. There are only the aim 9b-s which are easy to evade. The only missile that is annoying is the sea vixen’s missile. You still depend on your gun I play the br with the saab 105 oe and I get most of my kills by guns. I suffer at 9.3 with the a32 and j32 you dont have missiles only aim9 b on the j32 and you dont have flares and your not that fast so I cant grind rank 7 its so slow. They force you to buy a premium

Yeah, I agree. 8.7 has missiles but only aim 9bs and red tops. If you get hit by a 9b you're either in a bomber, already very slow, or it was a skill issue. Red tops are pretty frustrating but only the sea vixen gets them, and it doesn't get a gun so it's fine.

The last thing a new player should do is play low-tier jets or high-tier props because you will be eaten alive by veteran players who already have years of experience playing those planes. If you embrace the beatings and build the skill to hold your own, you will learn that much of what you know has no applicability to top-tier. War Thunder Air RB is pretty much four different games with mutually exclusive strategies and tactics based on the characteristics of the planes and weapons at those tiers. A new player should just focus on what they actually want to fly and single mindedly focus on that. The biggest issue with top-tier is that it keeps on changing. The introduction of new planes and weapons can cause massive swings in viability for different planes. Most of the planes at the top that suffer today were once the gods in the air that made all other planes suffer. You have to keep on learning to stay on top and the game does not help you one bit with that. BVR fights are some of the most fun I've had with the game, but you will need to watch people play DCS to actually learn how to do that.

If you team kill twice in a single game I think you get kicked from the match. You can get banned for it, but it would have to be very intentional

I love how your radar in every jet never loses lock. Doesn't matter what jet I'm in, if I have to rely on radar missiles, you can bet your ass the radar isn't going to hold a lock. PD is supposed to be great for head ons, yet I lose lock on people flying directly at me. The game is just so busted. Don't get me started on how unbalanced it is. Having F4 and MiG-23 facing F-14/16 and MiG-29...

since the map change and all the new BVR shit the fun factor in top tier has dropped off dramatically for me, cool as the F16 and Mig29 are, it's just not much fun radar jousting imho, ~10.3 is still the best gameplay

As a Harrier gr7 enjoyer i dissagree with 2 tips... 1) Dont dogfight... Well.. But i want to :D With a proper use of "Harrier VTOL bulsh*t" i can beat almost anything in dogfight... and 2)Dont fly high if you have an aircraft without BVR missiles. Again.. I do it. I know how to defend against Fox1s or 3s sooo there is just a small chance i´ll get killed by them (there is still some chance...its not foolproof) and the advantage it gives me to just drop on enemies shoving my four 9Ls up their a*s greatly outweighs the risk i get hit by some Tomcat boi at high altitude. Anyway... good tips.

I just unlocked the Mig-21 Bis Sau and finally got the R-60mk's. Honestly I hate it, absolute nightmare. The mig21mf is by far more fun. I hate hate hate fighting f14's and mig29's. Its not fun and has made me uninstall several times.

I hate to say it, but the MiG-21bis is excellent at where the game is right now, even with the R-60Ms… actually specifically helped by the fact it has the better R-60’s. You just don’t understand how to use it and you just have to realize that the game is completely different with these aircraft, new gameplay tactics are required.
